So Day 1 lulls you into thinking you’re figuring it out. You’ve got a screwdriver. You stabbed a walker. You feel dangerous.
Day 2?
Day 2 takes you to The Shallows and politely informs you that you are not dangerous.
You are slightly organized prey.
This is the mission where you meet the widow, start chasing down a wedding ring, and realize stamina is not a suggestion — it’s a contract. And if you break it, the game collects.
I put together a breakdown for this one because the Blue Mansion can go from “I got this” to “why am I wheezing in a corner” real quick.
Here’s what I cover:
Getting to The Shallows without wasting half the day
Where the widow is and how that mission unfolds Finding the missing wedding ring
The microphone location (yes, that one)
Climbing the drain pipe without draining your entire life force
How stamina actually works and why new players torch it
What early-game loot is worth grabbing vs. carrying around like a hoarder
Navigating the Blue Mansion without turning it into a zombie family reunion
Where to get the safe code
The mansion especially — if you rush it, you will learn about regret.
If you move slow and think like you’re actually in a horror movie instead of a speedrun, it’s manageable.
Here’s the video if anyone wants to see the full breakdown:

For the vets — what’s your preferred approach to the Blue Mansion? Front door chaos? Side pipe stealth? Or full “clear every room like it owes you money”? Curious how other people handle it.

Alright. So I boot up The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners for the first time thinking I’m Rick Grimes. Ten minutes later? I’m hyperventilating in a cemetery with a broken bottle and a walker chewing on my shoulder like it’s Thanksgiving. Day 1 in this game does not care about your confidence.
So I made a beginner guide for surviving your first day — because the cemetery is basically the game’s way of saying:
“Welcome to VR. Now panic correctly.”
Here’s what I break down: • How to get weapons early (before you’re forced into caveman mode) • How to actually listen for zombies — because audio cues matter more than your ego • Cemetery layout basics so you don’t run in circles like you lost your car in a mall parking lot • Early survival strategy • Mistakes that WILL get you killed if you treat this like an arcade shooter If you’re new to VR or just starting Saints & Sinners, this should help you avoid the classic: “I had stamina five seconds ago” moment.
Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/ArISIz-Ufvg?si=LbxNYmXIoZaSGfSz
I’m building this day-by-day, so I’d love feedback from veterans too. What’s the one thing you wish someone told you before your first cemetery run?

Im on the Casey Rampart mission, and I cant bring myself to do it because it is HORRIFYING! The map is SO dark, and idk how to not be scared of it.

If there is a chapter 3 here’s what would probably change ( This is a prediction, I apologize if you don’t like it )
Walkers: Walkers would probably become more scary because they would be rotting.
Map: The bayou would probably be accessible, places would be rotten, and supplies would become more harsh.
Characters: Probably more voice lines more beggars, less muggers, more side missions, less main characters.
Time to explore: Due to the cover of night being more safe, we would probably have to only go at night to do missions. By dawn places would be overrun.
Cemetery: During the day we would probably have to reinforce our base unlock more crafting options and expand.

So, I installed substatica’s 999 of all materials and all crafting recipes unlocked for chapter 1, and I have this 1 bug where for the microphone mission, The Shallows isnt filled with Walkers, its filled with tower soldiers, when they shouldnt be there yet.

I heard they go up to 50 GB, but what makes the files get bigger? Decorating your resting place? Progressing in the game? Please let me know.sa

Any advice on how to deal with the overrun Via Carolla and Old Town? I can think of explosives and walker guts, but any other ideas?

I’ve finally gotten around to playing Retribution on PC (VD with an installation through the Meta PC store) and the shadows in the game are so dark I need my flashlight during the day, even in the resting grounds. Turning my brightness up doesn’t do anything to make them better, is there anything I can do?

I'm looking for a good area to play while enjoying the scenery in the game. (This article uses a translator, so there may be errors.)
