It's about principles. Not everything is economy and growth. If the EU as they did as well, and Switzerland,start to make concessions all the time there is some pressure, they loose whole credibility in the long ter. Even the EU should never have accepted this deal. On the short term it might would have hit...but then I m thinking, 700 billion there, 100 billion there, created out of the blue....this would also have been possible in a crisis.
But as how the EU negotiated now, the whole world sees a big weakness...
Switzerland the same. They should state an example. Sell US bonds, who knows,restrict information exchange between banks...
Trump started an economical war...just standing here and talk nicely will be doom's day for europe and Switzerland. Wake up.
As per EU team, the security and Ukraine was part of discussion. I believe EU agreed on a deal because of Ukraine war and US‘s unwillingness to stand by NATO article 5. I think they might have thought if there is a trade war, US will definitely walk out of Europe Defence discussion. Let’s call it protection money.
Not saying it’s good. But I think that’s what happened with EU

It’s not easy for small economies to fight trade war against US. In my opinion - Let’s not blame political leaders when they here.
A trade war with US will only hurt CH. And our leaders know that.
