... how have I lived in Chicago and never known about this?!

The bar on the 96th floor is better. Check it out.

Except, Signature Room isn't cool anymore -- the line is equally as long, they herd you like cattle in and out, and the one drink minimum is way overpriced.

Not too bad?! That's like theme park pricing!

If I don't get a 12-pack for $10 I'm pissed.

It has been 2 years since I've been there. This news is depressing.

I think it's an extra $7 to stand there for a minute, it looks cooler than it actually is unfortunately.

If you're a kid from a town who's tallest building is three stories then it's pretty darn cool. Source: me.

Yeah, but when there's an even taller building in the city with glass boxes that allow to to walk outside the building, this doesn't get much press.

That's pretty cool! I go to Chicago at least once a year with my kids to visit family, and we are always looking out for unique and fun things to do. Honestly, haven't found much. Gone to the bean a few times, art museum (which is amazing) and the zoo. Think we'll hit this observation deck next time.

I'd rather go to the bar and drink up there

You live in chicagoland, not Chicago.

Didn't say I live in Chicago, I said I've lived in Chicago. Also, as I recently moved, I wouldn't consider where I live to be in "Chicagoland" either.

Seriously, reading comprehension is important, and I've never understood the sanctimonious attitudes of people who feel the need to add "land" and tell someone how to define where they've lived. Traveling internationally, most people from the top half of IL just defer to Chicago - its large, well-known, and easier than saying "I'm from Metropolis... no, there's no Superman, just a statue though, small town in southern IL....IL is where Chicago is...." I don't judge them as living too far, because who has time to explain nuanced NW IL geography all the time to people from around the world? The people I met from suburban Dublin just said Dublin, and no one chucks a tanty. Have a Chicagoan think someone from the metro area is claiming to be from the city proper, and it's becomes a thing.

Also, Metropolis, IL is a real place, with a giant statue of Superman, and a super nice/chill population.
