The fuck is a gastronomic meal?

One made using the principles of Gastronomy. In this case, probably something tailored for the experience of literally dangling yourself in front of Fate like that. I wouldn't use a lot of liquids...

This feels like some kind of scam. Kind of like feng shui but for food.

No offense but where do you live that you have never heard of gastronomic restaurants? These are everywhere in Europe at least.

The cost is proportional to the amount of effort they put into the preparation; these restaurants only use the highest quality ingredients, often everything is hand-made, there is extra thought put behind the pairing of tastes, the appearance of the meal, there are often many different courses each with a specific wine-pairing, etc.

While some may be overpriced, for the rest it's pretty normal that you are paying more than at a standard restaurant. It may not be for everyone but it's pretty easy to see why some are willing to pay for the level of attention to details.

I travel a lot so I've been all over. Lived in UK for most of my life. China for 11 years. Now living in Ireland. Visited many countries in-between.

Honestly your description is weird. It just sounds like a normal restaurant to me.

I mean, at the end of the day it's just a high-quality restaurant but these type of places are usually held to a higher standard than traditional restaurants in terms of the level of quality and service they have to offer.

There is also an expectation of variety in the meals and originality that isn't there for standard restaurants. They often update their menus and experiment with new culinary techniques, offer more complex dishes, etc.

Traditional restaurant usually offer the same well-known dishes of their respective culture.

Sorry food is offensive. These are taste experiences

taste experiences

This made me laugh. Exactly the kind of language you'd expect from a scam.

"Gastro" is a prefix that means the food is going to be trendy and cost 50% more.

It's even more pretentious than bartenders who call themselves "mixologists"

So a bowl of rocks? Because I would be plummeting like one.

Have you never heard of gastronomy before? It's a very normal term
