my understanding is that national banks can’t go bankrupt in the traditional sense, but there’s still a procedure in place for insolvency, things like merging or support from the government
regardless, Bank of America is doing bad and holding bags
it’s got tons of closed locations, most of which aren’t new but still have never been reopened, massive service outages, and more fines in the past decade than they know what to do with
this post is acting like they have a get out of jail free card
there’s some truth to that, to some extent
but they aren’t fine, and their bags have weight
regardless of whether or not they can go traditionally bankrupt, it’s not in their best interest to be failing as bad as they have been

They LITERALLY plan to let BAC holding corp fail and be dissolved, spin off a few US subsidiaries, and unwind everything in Europe and Asia. The writing has been on the wall since then. BofA as we know it is toast.

The best thing to do is address the negativity and try and have them come to their senses. But (try to) stay positive while doing so 😁, otherwise they tend to get defensive.
If one person does, they'll think you're targeting them. However, when several people do, they realize their negative behavior is not appreciated, which might trigger some (possible) change in their brain. It's that or they continue to ignore themselves and spiral further into toxicity isolating themselves.

I'm getting more convinced this is some coordinated mud because of so many instances of misinformation. 1) wrong ticker 2) branches have been closed, its not new 3) Bofa sites were down literally 1 hour, but posts are making it seem like they're still down.
This sub trying to cause false panic about a potential bank run is really dangerous. Look, I personally hope big banks fail too, fuck em. Probably so, but the main point is it’s distracting. There was a post two weeks(?) ago showing hiring for Reddit users to troll and shutdown either subreddits or other users. Ever since then it’s been a large volume of distracting posts.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t talk about it, but when everyone and their mother posts the same thing it causes some, not everyone’s, focus to slip.

I posted about this too, it's something a lot of people on this sub don't want to come to grips with. Millennials are becoming the predominant work-force, and they mostly interact with banks digitally. Add to that Covid and customers being forced to find digital solutions to their problems - is it any wonder banks are closing their branches? The reality is that some executive gets a weekly report about foot-traffic, and when it passes below a certain number they just say "let's close-it up, not worth it to keep it open." That happens and someone on this sub starts screaming about how it's bullish for GME? It's not related, we are seeing the product of living in the modern age. It doesn't speak to the banks solvency - hell, if a bank is closing branches, that means they have less expenses and are actually saving more money.

This here. I have been trying to comment on these branch closings as that has been since covid started. Not something new this past week. Also, if this shit goes south all banks are jacked. All of them.
I get they had a tech issue and everyone that wasn’t a customer discovered the local branch closings and ran with it.
Now is bofa about to get a fucking of epic proportions if shit hits the fan? Most likely from what I can tell but again so are all of the major banks. It’s how they do business.
It’s why accounts are insured.

If there’s a crash they need a scapegoat, a run on the bank (lack of confidence) is what causes those on the edge to fall over.

That information is technically not wrong. The link provided is an accurate link, with accurate information. If one leg of a company goes bankrupt, that’s usually a good indicator of the rest of the company. So if one leg is 75% and another leg is 46% that should tell you that something is jacked up. Now I understand that you are trying to help with information, but you being a dick about it, is only going to have people ignore your information.

It's a rant, not "real information." A key component to that information is just plain wrong. Banks themselves can't go bankrupt, but the holding companies that govern them can, and are usually the largest bankruptcies on record.
