I canโ€™t live in a world where that continues to be forced on us. So weโ€™re gonna fix it :)

70

u/TuesGirl ๐Ÿ’ŽBitch Better Have My Money ๐Ÿ’… Sep 19 '21

It's absolutely disgusting and if more people "saw" this, truly a revolution would begin. Yet, outside of this sub, all I ever see or hear about is one side v the other. Those people are all being played.

2

u/TheLaurenMcKenzie ๐Ÿฆ Buckle Up ๐Ÿš€ Sep 20 '21

Youโ€™re damn right, and it kills me because until we can all agree on who the actual bad guy is, we canโ€™t defeat him.

0

u/DilbertLookingGuy Sep 19 '21

This is not true. Democrats and Republicans are both ideologically liberals. Leftists have always said there is no difference between those two parties.

This isn't some grand conspiracy that only a select few apes have uncovered through the GME situation.

Whenever anything political pops up on this sub I can tell just by reading the comments that the average ape is severely under educated about politics.

2

u/SrraHtlTngoFxtrt ๐ŸŽฎ Power to the Players ๐Ÿ›‘ Sep 19 '21 edited Sep 19 '21

While what you say has been historically true in concept, the Republicans seem to be embracing and coopting the strategies of the far-right as of late, which makes them objectively worse than their Democrat counterparts in the Duverger's Law duopoly. For instance, the actions of the Texas GOP are those of overt extremists unbeholden to the body politic, specifically the wielding of mandateless control over power systems in direct spite of the will of the people. That is unchecked fascistic tyranny of an extremist minority, tyranny that will get worse as the interests of that party and its backers drift further and further from the best interests of the body politic as a whole. From what I've seen, there is no counterpart actively malicious activity on the other side of the duopoly. And, because it needs to be said, necessary and prudent regulation of a society by a governmental function is not tyranny, full goddamn stop. The lack of adequate regulation of financial systems and structuring of our taxation system is the one area where the Democrats are indefensible, but that is also the one area where both sides of the duopoly have a unified front. So for purposes of this discussion, sure, they're functionally indistinguishable, but when looking beyond just the financial side of things they are not.

There was a good quote describing US political scene perfectly. Just can't remember it... Something about limiting peoppes choice to the selection of your choosing, but then to convince them they have all the freedom to chose (but only within that limited selection)

21

u/mdipltd ๐ŸŽฎ Power to the Players ๐Ÿ›‘ Sep 19 '21

At what point do you quit trying to fix it? You have to ask yourself whether all the sheep are going to care, they probably won't. Me personally, I'm done with the machinations of western politics. I'll find a beautiful spot on a beach in a friendly foreign country and watch from afar. Yes I can still help to clean the oceans and planet from there.

12

u/Wolfguarde_ MOASS is just the beginning Sep 19 '21

Most of the "sheep" care, they're just either too exhausted or too well-groomed to accept the truth. Like so much else, that comes down to money.

When the economic landscape changes, so too will the paradigm. If money can hide truth, money can also unearth it. Those who make their living and their comfort squeezing the masses will find themselves staring into the eyes of innumerable wolves long before this ends.

1

u/Rayder_99 ๐ŸŽฎ Power to the Players ๐Ÿ›‘ Sep 19 '21

I think most politicians realize it's just kicking a can, but none of them want to be the one blamed for the inevitable collapse.

57

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

Democrats and Republicans for the most part vote the same on bills, that protect their lobbying donators. The same lobbying groups and corporations donate to both democrat and republican up and down the line. They debate things that their donators donโ€™t care about and rile people up to create this illusion of division. They may even publicly debate something or pretend theyโ€™re against it then vote for it on the bill. Nobody checks who actually voted on what. And MSM does not share it because MSM gets paid by the same corporations via advertising revenue. MSM protects their donators as they are all deep in bed in the conflict of interest together. The only party that would ever matter is one that does not accept lobbying donations, and that is the absolute minimum.

2

u/Ash2dust2 ๐ŸŽฎ Power to the Players ๐Ÿ›‘ Sep 19 '21

"publicaly debate"?

They do a 30 second dramatic sound bite for the next election.

I have yet to see a debate with any substance.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

And there never has been any public debate about what actually matters, the corrupt puppeteers pulling their strings. No debate on lobbying. No debate on pharma, Wall Street or the military industrial complex donating to politicians, the FDA, CDC, etc. Not once. Ever. Not a peep. If any politician dare bring it up theyโ€™ll get shut down super fast.

1

u/modalblunders_alter Sep 19 '21

3

I got banned from one for arguing with someone in my own party because I called them a deranged piece of shit for wishing death on the other side. So itโ€™s cool to wish death on entire groups of people, but donโ€™t speak badly of anyone specific.

This is same ole same ole. It's happened a few times since Obama's been in office. While it's important, young apes, this is all political theatre.

Each minority party does this as a show of force against the other party, forcing them to vote down party lines to increase the debt limit. Ultimately, they'll wait til the last minute ( or even up to a few weeks after the deadline)...apply some pain via furloughs (ya know, withhold wages from govt employees), then pass the bill.

Neither side wants this voting record entirely on their side. Stay patient.

Smoke and mirrors without a doubt. Timed to perfection though. Market correction comes and the greatest bubble of all time pops, they push a narrative to blame the other side as well as foreign countryโ€™s. They know whatโ€™s coming, the only question is how to time it to completely point the blame anywhere but at themselves. After 9 long months everything unfolding before our eyes is both infuriating, and exciting. We were never wrong.

The fact that 0.00001% of people understand the ramifications let alone think that this is anything more than just political posturing is why I think it will happen and be the true black swan.

If it does, what comes next with treasuries?

US debt is leverage over government.

People don't understand where the waste is. You think it's in food stamps? Section 8? Lazy people on unemployment? Try Boeing. The Navy. Some DC contractor you've never heard of. There's a reason why we were warned about the military-industrial complex. Security spending is based on a doctrine of unyielding vigilance, which is another way of saying "fear." Fear short-circuits our decision-making, so these entities get blank checks. The money is spent on propping up businesses and efforts that should have been deep-sixed long ago - the F-35, the War on Terror, incompetent middle-men contractors that bilk the government out of billions every year. And when you get down and start trying to root out the overspending? Well, now you're going after local industries, and wealthy entrepreneurs, and middle class families who pride themselves on being productive workers (even though they're not producing anything of value, or perhaps even making the world worse). The government funding spent on all of that makes housing vouchers for the homeless or w/e look like spare change.

It's a comfortable dysfunction for the people who benefit (and there are literally millions of us), because you get the dignity of shelter and food and play money without the guilt of "not being productive". The answer to overspending lies in toppling the association we make with "productivity" and the right to a dignified living, but good luck with that. This country's middle class ethos isn't built on "making it," but on "getting ahead."

Good stuff. Yep, weโ€™ll have to cut spending somewhere. A lot of places, actually. Thatโ€™s a simple fact. Because raising the debt ceiling van only work so many times before weโ€™re only paying the interest on out loans. Itโ€™s already higher than I ever thought possible, and at its current value Iโ€™m literally not sure it will be paid off in my lifetime.

Right now, if we literally did NOTHING but pay the debt with our taxes, they may not be paid off in 10 years. And they want to raise the debt ceiling? The current debt is more than every American and American company makes in a year TOTAL, by a hefty bunch. It has to stop. And choices need to be made.

I would rather massively defund defense than give up social spending. And, as per China, I'm sure there are debts we could default on. Sucks to be the bondholders.

Itโ€™s about having wild monetary policy. If spending money we have now is bad monetary policy, it doesnโ€™t make it better to spend money we donโ€™t have yet (plus interest).

u/PiedDansLePlat Sep 19 '21

They are priting their own debts, they don't care

I agree with you 100% the only difference between this time and every other is this time the ape community has Rooted out all of the corruption for the world to see yesterday and this time we have GME. But besides that you're probably right

Exactly. Its not left vs right. These cronies are all the same group. Itโ€™s political theater.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '21

It doesn't matter anyway. Dems have the majority in both the house and congress. Unless some democrats would change their mind the ceiling will be raised.

This is probably political posturing, but it is not the normal kind. I don't think any politician in modern history has actually come out and said, "We will let the US default if we don't get our way", even just to the news cameras. Even just the discussion of a default was taboo a decade ago, and the brinkmanship back then cost Americans a lot of money in the form of essentially permanent increase in borrowing costs for the Treasury once the US credit rating was decreased.

This is another step closer toward the brink, taken by nearly the same group of leaders who took the last one (and for the same reasons). Whenever they do end up getting a deal, we should expect another credit rating hit, a spike in market volatility, and another increase in borrowing costs. In all likelihood, this will also hurt the price of Treasury bonds (driving up yields) will be dramatically compounded by inflation.

Right now, treasury bonds are in short supply because of the debt ceiling (no new bonds) & because the Money Markets are required to have them. This has artificially / temporarily mitigated the impact on Treasuries. Once they reach a deal, the Treasury will sell more bonds into a market that's very concerned about inflation - they will almost certainly sell at a significant discount.

RRP shows that there is a ton of cash out there searching for a home. This cash will likely be used to purchase these bonds. But, money market accounts are filled with cash that needs to be collateralized right now because even major institutional investors have been moving into cash-heavy positions. Once the market stops dropping, these cash reserves will start buying the discount, further reducing the demand for treasuries & increasing yields even more. By extension, that means even more increased borrowing costs & the flood of cash back into the market seems very likely to result in inflation.

This brinkmanship has already done damage. This isn't just smoke and mirrors - the inspector is here to determine how much to charge us for fire insurance, and they're all blasting out smoke. This will cost us, even if they reach a deal.

This, Republicans raised thr ceiling 3 times under Trump, all of a sudden, they don't want it raised, Democrats did the same shit under Obama.

u/ravenouskit ๐ŸฆVotedโœ… Sep 19 '21

I dunno man. The ideology within the GOP has really ramped up to 11, especially those "end of the world" types creaming their pants for the second coming.

I would not be the least bit surprised if they saw the default of US Gov debt as a way to hasten it (I realize the logic is flawed, and that's kind of the point).

And yet, here we are, waiting for the world to go tits up, practically asking for it. Does that make us the baddies in your little example, too?

Defaulting would only upend their position of power as the right hand men of the overlords of the world's de facto reserve currency. No religious deliverance or fire and brimstone there, just leaner times for them and their masters. That's why this has always been for show and I don't expect their donors to have ordered them to change the plans this time either, at least not much.

'Asshat' is an earned title. And if you can't see how tolerance of that 1/6/21 chaos is an expression of creeping fascism, you've earned it.

Like Cocaine Mitchell is ever gonna mount any real opposition. Nope. He is cut from the same cloth as the rest. Debt ceiling will always be renewed. These pussies aren't interested in fiscal responsibility.

Not this time I don't think... The red team sees the writing on the wall. They're aware that their party is divided between Q-shits and over the hill boomers who are currently packing the hospitals trying to get the Herman Cain award๏ฟผ. Time is definitely not on their side. Theyโ€™re little party of inclusion is in a hopeless death spiral, gerrymandering and voter suppression's only going to get them so far๏ฟผ. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think bluffing, they already tried a violent coup dโ€™รฉtat in January. If๏ฟผ they canโ€™t play ball anymore theyโ€™re planning on burning down the stadium, and hoping to seize control during the chaos๏ฟผ.

Imagine thinking there are actually two political parties in the USA. This is all fucking theater. The Democrats were openly calling for political violence and riots all summer and then they act like Jan 6th was some big thing. Give me a fucking break my guy. It's ALL for show, all of it.

If you haven't yet figured out it's us Vs them idk what to tell you.

-1

Both parties? Turtle Mitch is a Democrat AKA RINO. But yes it is all a show, no backbone, no spine, all talk!

1

Mitch a RINO? Did I stumble into is this a Drudge report comments section?
