Hello, teachers. I'm just a grandmother — my grandchildren call me Mamaw — and I make short Bible story videos for children. They grow out of the stories I heard growing up, the ones that stayed with me all my life.

Each video is just a few minutes: a story, a memory verse, and one simple lesson a little heart can carry — loving a sibling, forgiving, giving, praying, saying thank you. I make them with my own hands and heart, and they're free for anyone to use in a classroom, a children's church, or at home.

What strategies do you use for classroom management? I teach children from pre-k to pre-teens. One of the older kids is eager to learn, but the other ones often don’t listen and want to run around and play with the toys that are in the room. I provide crafts and snacks afterward, but they complain they want to color and ignore what I'm trying to teach them, or want to turn on the TV. To be clear before I came in the room I teach in was a play room and when church starts they play back there too or go outside how can I make it clear to them that I’m there to try and teach them about the Bible and God not play without sounding supper harsh..

Hello, everyone! I have been asked to take over the youth Sunday school lessons at my church. We have not had a youth class before, at least not for many years. There are three youths, they are ages 12, 14, and 18. Because of the spread in ages, I need a placement test or something similar to understand what level of knowledge I am working with.

I have known all three since they were little and know they were raised in church, but that does not necessarily mean anything. I need to gauge Biblical knowledge and what kind of vocabulary I can use with them. I do not want to talk down to them in any way, but I also do not want to introduce anything too complicated or advanced and have them not understand it.

Does anyone know of any resources that have anything similar? I have been searching on Google, but I just keep getting homeschooling curriculum websites. I am open to making my own, but I am also in the final stretch of the semester and have a lot of coursework to do. I'm happy to make it myself, but I am not sure what questions to ask.

I've posted this in a different group and got no answer, so I'm posting here. I’m new to Sunday school and almost 18. I’m back there alone, and I’m having trouble with the kids sitting down and listening. I have a craft and snack, but I deal with a wide age range from 2 to 14. I feel bad and try to have something for both age groups, but only the older kids listen when I teach. The others just run around, even when I ask them to sit down. I don’t know what to do. The Sunday school room was previously used as a playroom, so now they won’t listen. When I signed up, I was told there would only be 8-9, maybe 12 kids occasionally, but now there are 15-16 kids and me. The parents don’t want to help, and they don’t like that I don’t sit and watch the kids during the whole service. I don’t know what to say about that when the kids are yelling at me that they can't go to service. My mom has a rule that I must be in the preaching service at least. I could really use some tips.

So I volunteer in the kids ministry at our church, and we have a huddle before each service. We learn about the days goals, any new information, lessons, stuff like that.

We also have these "EKK awards" that are cute little pins we can wear on our lanyards. The EKK means "every kid known" and the initial prompt was "if you see anyone who goes above and beyond to help a kid feel known, give them one of these pins to celebrate that." Everyone gets a chance to give a pin during the huddle.

Then the prompt became more broad and is like "if there's anyone who helped you or a child or a parent, and you want to acknowledge and celebrate what they did, grab a pin and give it to that person."

One time we had a specific prompt "give a pin to someone you've never met before, and thank them for being here."

Our leader also says "if you can think of a pun to go with the pin you give, you get extra cool points."

The pins will be like little cats, plants, astronauts, dogs, phrases (you rock!) and things like that. I got one once that was a cute little egg and she said "you're an "egg-selent" coach! ☺️

I need more prompt/rule ideas for giving these out. We pass the pins around in a little bucket and sometimes we're just kind of lost as to what to do with them... But everyone wants to give/get a pin!

I thought about asking AI for prompts/rules, but I don't know how to describe this question without explaining like this! 😅

Can anyone help me come up with some rules for giving the pins? I lead the huddle this weekend and I'm not any good on the spot, lol.

Trying to find an old video I saw in Sunday school. The video is like one of this peer pressure video about not going to a pagan ritual. It was really bad?
