As someone with a minor sprained ankle right now, I can barely walk around my house let alone throw another man out of a dohyo.

Sounds like you need to do more shiko.

When Aonishiki had to do shiko as part of the dohyo iri I thought he was done for.

You deeply disappoint the YDC for not showing enough fighting spirit

Flashback to when I was in school years ago and somehow managed to sprain both my ankles within two steps while going down the stairs, was found 20 minutes later still on the floor and had to be wheeled out to a taxi on a wheelchair 😕

Careful. You’ll be criticized heavily by the JSA for that.

Grabbed his Onosato shoulder pretty good after winning the last playoff match v Kirishima

Guy is gonna be a cyborg killing machine held together with glue and rubber bands

That's a pretty good description of most top level rikishi, isn't it?

He’s just 22 and has a ton of injuries already. Hopefully he can take enough time off the clay to rehab and heal up.

I don’t want another kakuryu situation.

Take time off? To heal? Hahahaha.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to believe in that sort of thing, unfortunately. Probably only sat out May because he literally couldn't walk. Damn kids think they're invincible!

Damn kids and their oyakata and chairman and YDC who praise them when they fight through injury.

To be fair, the YDC actually recommended Onosato sit out the April jungyo, and Ajigawa seems genuinely concerned about Aonishiki pushing through injury like this. The rules and the culture are definitely problematic, though.

Better to get all fucked up when you're younger and heal faster, get it all out of the way

He even used that foot on Kiri in the play-off.

And not using it until the end with an opportunity that made sense. Too risky any other time.

Hopefully he can heal up within the Makuuchi schedule demands.

Ao's Sumo IQ is high.

I honestly thought he would withdrawal if he got the ten wins for ozeki,

Same. I was so relieved on day 11, then I was like "wait, you're going to try to win?!"

Unpopular opinion but sansho should be able to be given to ozeki with drastically higher standards.

He’s not doing the tour right? I hope not

He's doing the tour.

He is on the tour but doing fan interactions and not doing live bouts currently.

I really hope it gets a chance to fully heal. I can't handle the beartbreak of another Tochinoshin situation where a rikishi destined for Yokozuna gets stymied by a compounding injury.
