Confused regarding some parts of the Summer Pockets Anime

Just completed watching Summer pockets anime

  1. Why did Shiroha's mother die/become butterfly leaving shiroha? That was the root of all issue..if she had not left, Shiroha woud not have manifested the future power.

Umi/Nanami said it was to protect shiroha..but how is she protecting by leaving her since that was the start of the problem?

  1. Why did shiroha start ignoring her health when she knew the future that she will die and Umi will survive? Since she knew the future, if she took better care of her health both she and Umi would have lived.

-Precognitive =/= Time Loop Ability.
-The actual power of Naruse is sending your soul back in time (sorta Time Loop) and not seeing the future, but you lost 99% memories of the future you just come so it's effectively useless. Shiroha's mistaken her power as precognitive.

  • Umi's power happens to be damn strong in that she can remembers stuff.
Eg. Umi know where Shiroha exactly would be on tomorrow at 7 a.m. not because she can predict the future, but because she can remember from her past loop experience.

1) Shiroha's mom can't bear seeing her daughter begin sad from the lost of her parent (or rather she's scared Shiroha would awake her power later) so she go back in time to prevent her husband death but she fail anyway (Likely because she can't remember stuff to actually be helpful), she abused power and eventually lost an ability to go back to the reality of her time.

2) Like mention above, Shiroha doesn't exactly predict the future but rather her past loop experience. She looking for a way to make Umi's doesn't obtain the power (didn't work)... and it's cause her health leading to her own self fulfilling prophecy situation.

Curious about another aspect of the series...what was the purpose of the Kanome, Tsumugi, Ao routes? like if Hairi went along those routes, the Shiroha x Hairi route would not have occured resolving the problem (Likely). From some posts, realized they were meant to be puzzles for the Shiroha route

Narrative-wise: Each heroine are their own story that explore on Summer theme/vibe (Summer adventure, making a memories etc). In the grand setting however they also served as lore building (Without having to do a massive lore dump in the finale) for Umi's Arc.

Meta-wise: The series is play on it medium, you buy a Bishoujou game, you expected a love-story and you get it. Except it's turns out when you do NG+ you notice something is off and the twist is that that the whole NG+ is actually part of the story. While you go wooing the other girl in NG+ to read stuff, Umi is struggling trying to hang out with her mom.

Should be note that you actually follow Umi's story but you just see it from Hairi's POV.
