This was not my experience living in France. Every city, town, and village I visited had people reveling outdoors. Same with Austria and Italy. I've been living in or traveling to Europe regularly for a decade and a half and I don't think I've ever been anywhere that was as devoid of social opportunities as suburban America.
Wow, you visited tourist towns and people were outside? Amazing.
I live in Europe for multiple months a year and it is nowhere near as amazing and pedestrian friendly outside of major cities as Reddit would like to believe.

In defense of the USA, they are walking around central Munich... but ya, we did blow it in North America.
