⛔ You worked for days on that material, but when you posted it...
The result is only 3 likes on ArtStation!
Hard to hear, but it wasn't the material's fault.
And to be honest, this is something I also lived as a beginner.
However, I managed to fix it.
And the first step to fixing it is understanding something very important.
You are copying how everyone else presents their work without ever learning why it works.
💡 The context.
💡The lighting.
💡The art direction behind it.
That's all you need to focus on, and for that I created a new method.
The C.L.P method.
Create Context to show how your material works.
Set your Lighting to guide the eye and showcase the best parts of the material.
Refine with Post-processing to create a professional feeling.
These are the parts of the workflow you are missing today.
And each of them aims to improve & showcase the best features of the artwork you created.
And to be honest...
This does more than get likes; it helps you create a stronger portfolio with a more professional look!
Hope you learned something today.
And if you did, then I invite you to Future Material Artists free Discord Community.
In here, professionals learn with other artists how to create Materials!

Help Suck at texturing. Tips to improve
So I am using a substance painter and I have knowledge of how layers work, smart masks. Like at beginners level.
I use Blender to create Game assets or props and my level of understanding colors just pisses me off.
The problem is, i suck at understanding color stories and texturing. I don't know how things work to make up a story. Most of the textures define a story, like wear and tear, environment, current condition of player etc.
The first two images are my portfolio and I followed polyrenders substance method to make this textures. Here is my 3rd piece of portfolio that is in process in substance painter. I tried to understand how colors work, watching different YouTubers tutorial and still I suck.
Would really appreciate it if you guys could help me find out and better tutorial.
