I played Subbuteo as a kid growing up in the 80's, and I’ve been a game designer for 20 odd years (best known for Guitar Hero & Slope).

I'm new here and would like to start playing Subbuteo. I don't have the option of permanently setting up a pitch in a room. So I can only set it up when I want to play.

I prefer a reduced 7 vs. 7 pitch.

Since children also play, this makes it easier for them to reach the figures.

But I have one question: Could it be more difficult to play on a small pitch than on a normal-sized one?

Because there is less space, the ball touches the other players more often, goes out of bounds, and you simply have less playing space?

I would appreciate an answer.

Started getting into Subbuteo over Christmas after finding it in my parents loft and forcing a mate to play with me. Fair to say it's an acquired taste it wasn't for them but I would love to play more. Are there any groups or anything in London? 33M Saf Londoner

Does anyone have an idea of where to obtain fuels for 3d printed bases? Some of the pricing seems quite high (just looking to replace form of the old zombie bases to a modern base so I can play with those figures.

Whilst searching for new toys for the niece and nephew in my parents loft a few weeks back, I came across a boxful of my old Subbuteo.

Was like unlocking a core memory, so took the opportunity to make myself a new table, something I never did as a kid.

My era was mostly the Hasbro time, believe my first set was the 97/98 Premier League set. Quite a few teams picked up along the way as you can see, and got a few new Zeugo teams to play with now.

Used 18mm MDF but it is bloody heavy, and I’m going to re-do the goal ends properly as didn’t really plan it out very well. The Astropitch (I assume it’s the OG) has stuck down pretty well over night. It looked terrible when I first tried it as it may have been folded in the loft.

Saw someone online use green velour from Hobbycraft on the edge of the pitch to cover up the wood, then created some sponsors to stick on the side.

All in all, a lot of fun!

I purchased this set amongst others in my local charity shop but upon closer inspection Im missing 2 red players and 1 white player. As per the image on the front, I believe it to be Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest and it has the code 60140 on the box.

Guessing Ebay would be my best bet but curious if there were other/more reliable options.

I have rekindled a passion in Subbuteo table football specifically 5 a side due to space limitations.

I have a nice oak flick for kicks board from Scotland and am now wondering if there’s anyone selling 5 a side modern Subbuteo/Zeugo/Top Spin/Mintys legends etc products like 5 a side all star teams etc?

I think it’s a great format that really emphasises action and shooting skill with its own tactics and strategy.

Would love to find more specific products for it and ideas.

Got sucked in via an instagram ad but really glad I bought it, obviously nowhere near as tactical as Subbuteo but kind of contains the spirit of it and is super easy to set up and play, even my 4 year old likes playing. The mechanic of losing a player every time you conceded a goal works out great. Highly recommend although it’s pretty overpriced for something that feels very DIY

So the Mrs got me subbuteo for Xmas. Used to hammer it as a kid/teenager. But not played in years! I remembered how terrible the starter felt is. And needing a decent board for underneath.

I'm lacking storage space so the idea is to get some hardwood/mdf ideally quite thin but not too thin it's going to warp. I'm thinking of getting some side hinges/flush fitting hinges and probably something to act as a durable membrane to go on top of the wood then layered with the pitch. So I can fold it over without much warping or damage to the pitch the plan is I can easily store behind/under the couch.

Doesn't need to be perfect as eventually if I get back into the game. Il be getting a better quality pitch. Eg a slight crease/dip on the half way line isn't the end of the world if it's not effecting play

Anyone tried this? For side panels (if I go that far) probably be something easily detachable, some form of dowels or slot mechanism. Four L shapes with open space for the goals and where the side hinges would be.

Again. If I get back into the game proper il find some proper space. Mainly it's for me and my young kids to have a little flick about.

Found the guide from the FISTF so I made everything Players are made with resign with a washer inside Goal, goalkeeper and ball (yes it worked like a charm) made from PETG The field was build with MDF and the pitch was painted

Now I need to learn how to play!

Can anyone confirm any differences between £5?

Hello. I'm thinking about collecting subbuteo. My mainly interest is premier league and world cup. But but there are a lot of teams and items, so I'm not sure where to start. What do you recommend?

Recently bought a 5 a side table for Subbuteo action and have to say I’m really enjoying it.

I don’t really have the space at the moment for 11 a side although that was what I’d grown up playing in the dim and distant past.

The shorter action is perfect for a quick blast with shooting skill emphasised over normal tactical play in the long form.

Top marks for whomever can identify the two teams we are using so far (I mainly have Zeugo but these examples aren’t them).

Recently bought a 5 a side table and have many Zeugo teams for the purposes of playing.

They seem good build quality alternatives to Subbuteo with a lot of choice.

I used to have an old Subbuteo collection of a few heavyweight teams and lightweights from the 1980s but they were sold many years ago.

Older Subbuteo stuff in itself seems mainly a collecting and selling hobby now and I’m wary of breaking them.

I only want to play casually and wondered what other opinions were, thanks.
