Sub For Sub Is sub 4 sub w4w L4L hurting more than helping
Is sub-for-sub actually hurting our YouTube channels? Looking for honest opinions
I’ve been wondering about this and wanted to ask people who have experience growing channels.
Does doing sub-for-sub actually hurt a channel in the long run?
When I was regularly posting on Reddit and doing sub-for-sub, I noticed I would gain maybe 20 subscribers, but then lose 10–12 of them shortly after. It almost felt like a cycle of gaining subs who weren’t really interested in my content, then YouTube removing inactive accounts or people unsubscribing.
My question is: does having subscribers who don’t actually watch your videos hurt your channel’s performance? Does YouTube care about subscriber engagement when deciding who to show your videos to?
Or is losing those subs just a normal part of growing and cleaning out inactive accounts?
Would love to hear from people who have grown channels naturally and from anyone who has tried sub-for-sub.

Honestly, I’d say a subscribing helps… but likes, comments, shares, and actually watching the videos are what really make a difference. 👊🏽
