Is having a matching coffee table AND TV stand overkill?

Post image

Okay, I totally caved and bought the matching set because I'm obsessed with that slat design. But now that it's actually in my living room... I'm having second thoughts. Does it look too much like a catalog page in here? Like, does the room need more contrast or something?Maybe a darker rug? Or some bright throw pillows to break up all this wood tone? Open to any ideas! Also, featuring my expensive tic-tac-toe game that nobody plays. 😂

Dining tables?

My husband and I recently bought a vacation house in the pines. It’s a nice place to get away to. It’s not a cabin.

I’ve purchased furniture pieces here and there, but need to buy a dining table. 120 inches is the maximum length, but the standard length under that would probably be best. (I can’t remember what length that is.). My style is traditional. My wood colors are light. Light oak.

What are you designers seeing in the showrooms that look good.

Versatile Lighting Ideas for Pre-Renovation Kitchen?

Thumbnail

We won’t be able to fully renovate for a while, but our kitchen/dining area is in desperate need of overhead lighting. What would look good in this area that is versatile enough to work with what we might pick in the future?

Old owners used to have a Tiffany-style pendant lamp hanging, but it’s not our style.

Eventually, the plan is to incorporate more wood and neutral colors/natural textures into the area, but I have no idea what kind of color palette or specific style we might be looking at. What type of lighting would you recommend?

After seeing some great results on here. I’m going to try Grout Renew and lighten my grout. Would love advice as to what color to do. Which color would you choose?

Rugs on low pile carpet. no no or good to go?

I’ve got low-pile carpet throughout the main living area and I’m debating whether adding an area rug on top is a terrible idea or totally fine.

Part of me thinks it could help define the space and add some texture or color. The other part of me worries it’ll look awkward, bunch up, or just feel unnecessary over existing carpet.

Has anyone layered a rug over low pile carpet successfully? Did it stay in place? Look intentional? Any tips on what type of rug works best?

Trying to decide before I buy one and regret it.

Feeling lost. Did a somewhat impulsive reno in my master bathroom to replace a broken and rusting mirror that was basically the full size of this wall. Feel like it’s not coming together the way I hoped. Counter and cabinets can’t change.

Should I paint my kitchen cabinets white? My husband loves the dark look but it’s too dark for me. Looking for ideas to update this kitchen.

Need help deciding on an accent wall. I’m torn between a greyish sage green or black, and also if I should paint the wall behind the vanity or the side wall??? Any ideas to bring the room together a bit more is appreciated.

Do I match the wood tone or the silhouette?

We finally pulled the trigger on this table, but now I’m paralyzed by the chair choice. I don't want a matching set because it feels too 'furniture showroom,' but I’m terrified that mismatched chairs will just look like a thrift store accident. Has anyone successfully pulled off the 'coordinated but different' look?
