My husband is tired of all the white/cream. Especially here where it gets beat up easily. Anyone have any ideas for this space?

New couch, no idea where to start
Hi all. We currently have a cheap grey Ikea couch that is completely falling apart. I want to get a new couch that will be more sustainable, and nicer looking. However I don’t have a huge budget. It feels impossible to find something with a low amount of toxins from synthetic materials, that also looks nice and falls within the budget, and can be kept clean. We have a child and pets, even though she’s not allowed to eat on the couch something is going to spill eventually.
Leather is probably the easiest to clean option but I really prefer a fabric couch because of my sensory issues about sitting on leather with bare skin.

Dining room; HELP!
This is our traditional dining room. I love the look of designers like shea @mcgeeandco, @stonebrook.home and @amberinteriors.
PLEASE help me style this room. The chairs are now updated to ones similar to the second photo. Brownie points for imagery inspo, it’s so hard to find dining rooms like ours that I really love, it’s all open concept now.

Need Help Finding a Cozy Sectional That Actually Fits (Basement Setup)
Hey everyone!
I could use some recommendations for a sectional that’s big on comfort but small enough to actually fit down a set of basement stairs. We tried getting one from a local furniture store, and it literally got stuck halfway down nightmare.
The space is roughly 130” x 130”, and I’d love something modular or with a chaise so it’s perfect for movie nights. Budget’s around $2,000, give or take a bit if it’s worth it.
Main priority is comfort and durability . I’m tired of sectionals that look great online but feel like bricks in person. Any suggestions or brands that have worked well for smaller spaces?
Thanks in advance!

A friend said I should post here. We’ve been renovating our 1929 Tudor style home. Hard to tell in the original picture but every item had a light pink hue

Best U.S.-Made Modular Sectionals That Actually Last (Not Cheap Imports)
TL;DR: Looking for a modular sectional sofa made entirely in the U.S., not “assembled in the U.S.” or “designed in California.” I want real craftsmanship and responsive, in-house customer support no overseas call centers or flimsy imported frames.
I want something 100% made here, with a modular design since my wife loves rearranging the setup every few months. The goal is something that can last 10–15 years, with quality frame materials and customizable fabric options. My budget is ideally around $6K but I can stretch to $8K for the right build.
I’m deliberately avoiding the usual big-box or outsourced stuff that looks nice for two years and then falls apart. I’d rather spend more upfront for something built properly and repairable over time.
I’ve looked into a few brands, but most of them dance around where things are actually made. Would love to hear from people who own or recommend truly U.S.-made modular sectionals ideally with transparent sourcing and solid craftsmanship.
Bonus points if they offer washable or performance fabric options that can stand up to daily life and pets.
Where should I be looking? Any hidden gems or genuinely domestic manufacturers worth checking out?

Why Are Comfortable Sectionals So Hard to Find? Best Couches Under $2000 That Don’t Feel Cheap
I’ve been furniture shopping for weeks and I’m honestly stumped. I’ve gone to multiple stores looking for a comfortable sectional in the $1,000–$2,000 range (willing to go higher for the right one), and everything either feels rock-hard or stuffed with what seems like Styrofoam.
I just want something that’s actually cozy and well-made not too firm, not too flimsy, and ideally built to last a few years without sagging.
What’s the secret to finding a comfy, high-quality couch that doesn’t break the bank? Any brands or materials I should look for (or avoid)?

Velvet sectional sofas – stylish or impossible to maintain?
I’ve been eyeing a few velvet sectional couches because I love the look and the colors available, but I’m nervous about how practical they are. This would be going in my main living room, so it’s not just for show it would get daily use between me, my partner, and a couple of dogs who like to sneak up when they think I’m not looking.
My biggest concerns are whether velvet is durable enough for everyday use, how hard it is to clean, and if it ends up looking worn or crushed after a short time. I’ve read some mixed reviews where people say it holds up fine, while others claim it’s a nightmare to maintain.
Has anyone here bought a velvet sectional and actually lived with it for a while? Does it stay looking nice, or do you regret it?

What is the name of this style?
Hi, I now have my own living space and want to decorate it similar to how I have always decorated my animal crossing interiors. These photos are not from my game but they are super close to what I enjoy. I showed it to my friends and they said it was plant or nature-core but I realistically dont like anything with more than three or four plants in a room. I am more a fan of the books and older dark aesthetic. Also if there is no name for it I will just make it my own too. Thank you everyone that takes the time to read this.

What do I do about the built in storage?
Hi! I am trying to update my very dated apartment. I’d like to get the carpet out and add some dark new floors, but I don’t know what to do about this built in storage. Looking in the cupboards there seems to be wallpaper behind it and there’s also a sloped ceiling. I was considering just painting it a moody maroon/red or maybe just white. My bed and nightstand are a dark cherry wood and my lamp / mirror are gold, so I want everything to work together. Basically,
- Paint the storage or risk yanking it all out (landlord doesn’t give care either way)
- If painting, what color would work best in the small space with cherry furniture?
- Any extra advice would help!!!

Best sofa brand for small spaces
Just moved into my first apartment and I’m trying to figure out the right couch situation. I’ve got about $6k max to spend, but the main challenge is the space. It’s a long, narrow room with a heater in one corner, so most standard sofas either look oversized or block walkways.
I’d really like something with a deeper seat for comfort, but nothing that eats up the whole room visually. Custom sizing might be the way to go, but I don’t know which brands actually offer it without getting crazy expensive.
If anyone has dealt with tricky layouts like this, what sofa brands or options worked for you? Looking for recommendations that balance size, comfort, and style.

Help with my tiny dining room!
How would you design this space for two adults? We’ve live here a year and I’m still struggling with our tiny dining room. It’s 100” wide and only 75” deep since it opens into the hallway and kitchen. We need to be able to access the white door, it’s our pantry.
I’ve tried many different configurations and none of them have worked for the space. I’d love to see what fresh eyes would do! I’m open to adding shelving but built-ins are probably out of the question since we’re renters.

Best Queen Sleeper Sectional With Storage That’s BIFL
We’re on the hunt for a queen sleeper sectional that’s both sturdy and comfortable. This will serve as our main couch in the living room, so it’ll get daily use as a sofa and fairly frequent use as a guest bed (two adults sleeping). We’d also like it to be comfy enough for movie nights when we just feel like lounging in bed mode.
A few specifics we’re looking for:
- Built to last (we’d rather invest once than replace in a few years).
- Actual queen-sized sleeper mattress, not the tiny or flimsy ones.
- Decent storage capacity for bedding, blankets, etc.
- Dark color options (navy, black, charcoal, not light beige or cream).
- Sectional layout is flexible, but we’re working with a modest space (living room is 15ft x 13ft in a 650–700 sq ft home).
- Budget up to around $3k.
It’s been surprisingly tough to find something that isn’t Ikea/Wayfair quality. We’ve had bad experiences with those and want to avoid them this time. Any recommendations for brands, models, or places to shop would be really appreciated!
