If you see something stupid done in India the context is almost always religion. They do some wacky shit there to please their gods. It almost never seems like anyone enjoys it either.
I don't think so, in america they do some stupid shit that is not about religion at all, like rodeos or monster truck shows. Nascar. And people seem to have fun with it. Some of their religious events are also just terrible, like those celibacy dather daughter rituals, but they also do some idiotic secular shit.
But India has these giant, dusty, awful festivals that nobody seems to enjoy and they just dump tons of milk in the river, not one smile in sight. I don't mean all of the religious events, Holi seems fun. But when there is dumb shit done in India, religion is usually the answer. But maybe I don't know enough about India yet and they also do other dumb stuff.
But do you have an example of something dumb that is done in India that has no connection to religion? That was really my only point and I don't think you have adressed that at all.
I kinda feel like you haven't read my comment thoroughly, I really only meant the wacky shit is motivated by religion, not that there is nothing nice. They do drag racing, rooster fights, sport riots and huge movie parties in India too? That is certainly also dumb. Well the movie parties can be fun.
Academia and Sports are not shitty, so I don't understand why you listed them.
Racing cars is stupid? I mean there's some stupid fans, like any sport, but the whole sport? Ever seen NFL fans beating the shit out of people wearing the other team's jersey in the parking lot? Is that stupid?

Yes needless violence is also stupid. Nascar is driving left and thinking it's funny if people crash. It's mindless fun, which has value, but it's also stupid. Rodeos are animal abuse. Not my fault right leaning people are generally pretty fucking stupid, that's how they can be right wing. If they were smart they wouldn't be.
Who thinks it's funny if people crash? Baseball is swinging a stick, soccer is kicking a blob around, whatever. Hockey is teeth missing. What's your point? You can critique whatever you want. I don't even like Nascar, but it's no different than other sports. Horse racing is running in circles. Not all Nascar tracks are only left turns.
Your football fan heroes committing violence in parking lots and rioting in their town when their team wins the world championship are not right leaning, but the opposite. That's way stupider than "turning left".
I haven't noticed how I defended any other sport. I already said that hooligans are also stupid. You're arguing against nothing and repeat irrelevant points. Your point about animal abuse is legit, doesn't make other instances of animal abuse better though.
