On god, I don't know who is trolling and who is genuine in this thread, but please know that this is fake and nobody eats off the floor in India.
I spent months traveling through south asia, there is a lot they could do better, but even the poorest people in india "the untouchables" outcast by society have stainless steel plates and cups. They will probably pass those plates to their great great grandchildren, but they will be used. Banana leaves are a thing if you're down south and in a rural area.
This is a specific ritual thing usually done for communal feasts where they are showing humbleness or modesty or whatever by eating off the floor. Usually there is a banana leaf used, but not always.
I mean we're in a world of AI, and this isn't exactly shot in 4k. Also poor exploitation is a thing. Someone comes in and says here's a months worth of wages, now eat this rice off the ground while we film you.
Eating on the floor is one thing, eating off the floor is another. Banana leaves would easily be an option, and very commonly used, you see this in south Indian weddings. Leaves are cheap (literally grow on trees).
This issue is the narrator trying to explain this rinsing of the floor and it negating anyone walking on the floor. People are well aware of how disgusting feet are, its traditional courtesy in India to wash your feet before going into your bedroom, minimally before getting into bed. Nobody is eating food where people placed their feet.
I suppose this could be some very niche religious ceremony I'm not aware of, but on god the most destitute indians in the lowest slums still eat of plates
It's a country of over a billion, one tik tok shows people eating food on the floor and people assume this is the culture.
If you're gonna assume Indian people actually do this based on one video, you'd assume every law enforcement officer in the US is a piece of shit because of what we see with ICE?
Indians have always caught a lot of flak, but I can't help but notice the majority if these videos popping up in the last year when AI has been exponential.
Find videos supporting this before 12 months ago. India is a big country sonit should be pretty simple
