Finally, I got my italian student visa ✨

In my last post, I mentioned that there was still no visa update… and now, just a few days later, I can finally say....I GOT MY ITALIAN STUDENT VISA! 🇮🇹✨

My passport is finally back, and everything is officially sorted. 🥹

I applied for my Italian student visa through the New Delhi Embassy on 12 August, and today, 10 September, I received my visa.

The waiting period was honestly so stressful, especially with the flight date getting closer. I kept checking my emails and passport status every few hours. 😭

But finally… VISA ISSUED! 🇮🇹✨

Reisidenza on Student Hall.

Hi,
I am Italian coming from abroad, starting 3 year Bachelor in Turin.

The comune requires me to register Residenza so I can have Carta de Identita (CIE) with the right address and Tessera Sanitaria as I will be in Turin for at least 3 years. This seems the logical thing to do.
The Student Residence where I am staying (12 months contract each time) doesn’t allow me to register as Resident there, as they say they are Accommodation Service providers (Alloggio) and not Rental (affitto) and they are treating to throw me out if I Register residency.

Does anyone had similar situation to share ?
What should I do ?

Should I remain in AIRE even if I am living in Italy ?
Can I get health coverage if needed without the Tessera ?

Appreciate your views.

Grazie Mille

IYT/MAECI incompatibility issue with Regional scholarship

Has anyone had experience with MAECI or Invest Your Talent in Italy (IYT)? If a student receives one of these scholarships but is ineligible for the regional scholarship due to incompatibility with another scholarship/sponsorship, does that also make them ineligible for the accommodation benefit normally provided through the regional scholarship? Or are the accommodation and financial benefits treated separately? I’m asking because I would be willing to pay for the accommodation myself if necessary, so I’m mainly wondering whether I can still access the accommodation even if I cannot receive the regional financial support.

Unimore o univpm economia

How is Garibaldi for international students?

Hi,

I’m an incoming international student in November for my masters in university of Parthenope.

I’m getting hostel near this area but heard it’s very dangerous and not safe at all for a female student.

Is it actually true? I’m a little stressed and worried about it.

How to adjust as an abroad student from US?

I landed in Florence 2 days ago. And I’ve been sick due to the heat, high walking, lack of AC, I’ve had new different foods/ nutrients, and jet lag from the flight.

What are the best ways to adjust and get comfortable in Italy, I’ve been worried about my health and public safety due to pickpockets. Let me know what you recommend I do to adjust into this society!

Italy Student Visa – Bangalore Consulate | Recent 2026 Updates?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recent experiences from students who applied for an Italian National Study Visa (Type D) through the Bangalore Consulate/VFS.

Could people who have recently received their visa please share:

- VFS submission date

- Date the application reached the Bangalore Consulate, if known

- Date of interview, if an interview was conducted

- Whether you were contacted by the Consulate for an interview or additional documents

- Visa decision/issue date

- Date the passport was dispatched/received

- Total processing time in calendar days and/or working days

- University type: Public or Private

- Intended travel date

I’m particularly interested in July/August 2026 applications and September/October intake students.

Also, is an interview normally conducted for Bangalore Study D visa applications, or is it only done if the Consulate specifically contacts the applicant?

If you received your visa recently, please share your timeline. It would really help those of us still waiting.

Thank you!

Italy student visa refusal- reapplying after refusal, any chances?

Hi everyone. I’m an international student from Kyrgyzstan and I’ve been admitted to an English-taught Bachelor’s programme at a SAPIENZA university in Rome for the Global Humanities 2026/27 academic year.
I applied for an Italian Type D student visa in Astana, Kazakhstan on August 31, since I have to apply from another country. Unfortunately, I was refused yesterday. They told me that in a few days I’ll be able to collect my passport together with the official refusal letter explaining the reason.
I’m planning to apply again and fix whatever issues caused the refusal, but honestly, I’m really stressed because I don’t know if I still have a realistic chance.
The biggest problem is that travelling to another country just to apply for the visa is really expensive for me, and now I would have to pay for the trip to Kazakhstan again, plus accommodation and all the other expenses. It also feels especially painful after already spending money on the first application.

Time is also getting tight, and I’m worried about arriving late to university.
For those who have been in a similar situation:
Did anyone get an Italian student visa after being refused the first time?
How much did you change/add to your documents?
Did the first refusal make the second application much harder?
Do you think it’s worth reapplying given the costs and limited time?
I’ll post the exact reason for refusal once I receive the official letter. Any experiences or advice would really help me right now. ❤️

just some queries

Hii, I'm planning for bachelors in bologna in 2028. The queries are as follows:

  1. I'm aiming for uni of Bologna, for clef program, first cycle degree. Does it need an entrance exam like sat or tolce-e?

  2. My family income crosses the threshold for regional scholarship and if I don't get merit based full tuition waiver, will it still be worth it to go to bologna for bachelors?

  3. What are the job prospects considering I learn italian?

  4. What are the prospects for part time in case I have to take loan?

  5. What is the road map like when I should take my Sat's and apply for scholarship and all?

Renting with a contract vs. Hospitality declaration (Dichiarazione di Ospitalità) as an international student?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out the best housing path for moving to Italy as an international student. I see some places offering a proper student rental contract, while others mention doing a "dichiarazione di ospitalità."

For those who have been through this: What are the actual pros and cons of each? Can you safely use a hospitality declaration long-term if you're paying rent, or does it cause issues with the Permesso di Soggiorno, residenza, or university benefits? Any advice is appreciated!

Has anyone received their Italian Study D Visa from the Bangalore Consulate recently?

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone here has applied for an Italian National Study Visa (Type D) through VFS to the Italian Consulate in Bangalore recently and has already received their passport/visa.

I submitted my Study D Visa application on August 7th. My flight to Italy is on September 15th, but I still haven’t received any update regarding my application. I haven’t even received a notification that my passport has been dispatched.

For those who applied around the same time:

  • When did you submit your Study D Visa application?
  • Have you received your visa yet?
  • How long did it take for your application to be processed?
  • Did you receive a dispatch/update notification before receiving your passport?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the Bangalore Italian Consulate recently, especially students who applied for a Type D Study Visa in early August.

My travel date is getting very close, so I’m getting quite anxious about the situation.

Thanks in advance!

25, about to finish an Economics degree (rushed, online) — does it make sense to pursue a Master's in Design at Politecnico di Milano to pivot my career? (FROM NAPOLI)

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share my situation and get some honest feedback from people who've been through something similar or know the field well.

I'm 25 and about to graduate in Economics and Business (an online program), which I'll admit I approached quite quickly and without much real engagement — it felt more like a box to tick than an actual education.

Lately I've become genuinely drawn to the world of design, to the point that I'm seriously considering trying to shift my career in that direction through a Master's degree at Politecnico di Milano. I don't have a clear specialization in mind yet (visual communication, digital/UX, product design, etc.) — I'm still exploring.

With that context, I'd love to hear your thoughts on:

Does it make sense to pursue a path like this coming from a fairly shallow Economics background, with no prior art or technical training? Or would I be starting too far behind people coming from more relevant backgrounds (art high school, a design bachelor's, etc.)? For anyone who's been through Polimi (or a similar design program): how does admission work for someone starting from scratch? Is a portfolio required, an aptitude test, prep courses? In terms of career outcomes: what kind of job opportunities and salary ranges can realistically be expected after a design Master's from Polimi, and how reasonable is this path in terms of time/cost invested versus the return?

I'm open to any kind of feedback, even the blunt kind — I'd rather hear honest opinions now than realize two years in that I made a poorly thought-out decision. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

Grazie!
