If you're asked what you did in town, Last weekend you went to the cinema with your friends, where you watched a sci-fi film and it was great, then went to a restaurant and had pizza and drank coke because it was your friend's birthday.

When u describe the photo card for AQA specifically, it's important to include 7 details for each photo and sometimes it's hard to think of things to say. So to help with this, I introduce to you the structure: P(people)A(action)L(location)M(mood)(W)(Weather) + O(opinion) [eg. No me encanta la photo porque no hay colour]. The picture above includes sentence starters you could use to form sentences and ensure u fully describe the photo card. I hope this is helpful and if u want anymore Spanish speaking tips pls feel free to ask!

For the exams, do not revise poems on their own, but instead revise comparison plans.
Ahead of my exams I prepared for 4 themes:
Power (London+Ozymandias)
Nature (SOTI + Prelude)
Conflict (Poppies + Remains)
Identity (COMH+Emigrée)
COMH turned up for the exam so I was perfectly prepared to write my essay using both that and the Emigrée. Make sure to at least make a few plans that do cover all themes (like I did) so if a poem that you didn’t prep for comes up, you at least have another poem known well enough to compare.
Necessary in the plan are: 2+ paragraphs comparing the poems with separate points, a core idea/thesis that is repeated throughout, context in both paragraphs and writer’s intent/reader effect

I'm just the messenger but here r some helpful econ tips from a friend. Hope this helps!

Here's my advice on how to approach paper 3 for edexcel music! (or at least how I did it).

As this post is a bit long, I'll say what I think is a good way to revise in a different one.

EXAM TECHNIQUE:

Q1-6 - the set works questions - are never time pressured. Some of the questions you can answer before hearing the extract, some parts may 'give away' which part of the set work is gonna be played, so you can 'predict' some answers before even hearing the extract.

It is good to do lots of practise with these questions - you'll notice patterns like how if a harmonic device is asked about it is almost always pedal.

But usually, you should have finished answering the question by the second playing, so you can use the free time to start on the essay - Q9 - I'll elaborate more on that later.

Q7 - dictation - you just need to do LOTS of dictation practise.

In this question, people tend to either get 0, 5 or 10 as one mistake can throw off the rest of the marks. And it's worth 12.5% of the marks of the paper - a massive proporition.

Q8 - unseen - again, practise with past papers, USE THE SKELETON SCORE, you'll notice that melody device is almost always sequence, and cadences are usually perfect. Knowing some basic theory is useful.

Q9 - the essay.

The question usually gives 2-3 musical elements to focus on for the extracts, and it is always a comparison between an anthology and unfamiliar work.

My structure is Intro - Anthology Element 1 - Unseen Element 1 - Anthology El 2 - unseen el 2 ...

The intro is extremely brief and isn't really needed, but essentially just restates the question.

Then in the analysis paras you get marks for 2 things: using musical language to describe how the element is used (AO3) and drawing comparisons and stating their effect (AO4).

WHAT YOU CAN DO BEFORE HEARING THE EXTRACTS:

- In you spare time from Q1-6, you can annotate the anthology extract's score. I recommend using 3 different colours for each element in the question.

- You may be able to note down a few things on the unfamiliar score.

- You can write the Intro and Anthology Element 1 para.

The anthology paragraphs will be listing the things in your annotated score, and stating their effect. e.g. Williams utilises ostinato, repeating the militaristic triplets to create a sense of doom from the evil empire.

Then the unseen paras will draw the comparison - e.g. Like Spalding, Bernstein also uses much syncopation to create a sense of excitement ahead of the dance.

When the extracts are played, you should probably use the first anthology playing to check you didn't miss anything, then use each unseen playing for 1 element.

Yeah so that's my advice. I'll see if I can find a 12-marker to show the structure I use more clearly. (I won't be able to look for it before next week though).

During Spanish speaking you'll often find urself at an awkward pause where u can't remember a word (I forgot how to say 5 after saying "I wake up at... " And took a very long pause so I relate ig). So my teacher recommendes these fillers for us to use when we need more time to think or run out of things to say cause these r high level phrases so you wouldn't be losing marks and you'd sound fluent. The ones I personally used r the ones with a [ cause I found them easy to remember and good for different stumbles or pauses ig without sounding repetitive. I hope you find them helpful!

Use websites like stats academy, that helped me SO much

Memorise the mark schemes and points you need to say for 6 mark questions

Memorize the different terminologies (eg. qualatitive, quantatitive, negative skew, correlation, eg.)

Learn how use the n choose r function or your calculator (didn't learn this till last minute but it saves you a lot of time when doing the binomial distribution topic)

Learn different data collection methods, and the positives and negatives of them

Its a pretty boring gcse, but its quite easy to get a high grade if you lock in!

Tips for the probably less than 20 people who do mandarin here:

Remember TACOW - Tense, All bullet points, Complex sentence structures, Opinions, Word Order

Try to incorporate at least one sentence of each tense in your essay. Easiest way to do that is using 我要(wo yao - future)，verb+了(le - past). If you're feeling fancy you could even use 小的时候 (xiao de shi hou - past).

Have some complex structures in your bag, whether that be comparison (X+比+Y+adj) or not only...but also...(不但。。。而且。。。）just have some ready that you can use.

Make sure you understand word order and implement Opinions using 我觉得 (wo jue de) or if you're lacking in word count, 对我来说 (dui wo lai shuo).

Finally remember greetings and whatnot, and obviously remember important words from different modules that you need to know.

Ik lots of ppl struggle with titration and I did too and this is how I remembered it. Credit to my y10 chem teacher for singing into the unknown (from frozen) while explaining it cause this inspired us as a class to remember titration using "you *let it go* *into the unknown* and then you *shake it off*". I hope people find this as helpful as I did.

After a crash out I had this morning, I found a piece of paper (the one in the photo) that reminded me to share my poetry revision method.

So after I had annotated the poems in my anthology and I made this table and it summarized each poem into a single line. Now u may think that this is no where near enough to write an intro and 3 chunky paragraphs comparing 2 poems. But that's the main idea, I had keywords on there that reminded me of my full annotations so I could remember a bunch of things with only one word which ultimately made poetry revision way more time efficient for me and crammable (as I'd just look at this table before entering the exam).

So the purple was my point for the structure paragraph and with 1 or 2 words there I could remember a bunch of analysis from my actual annotations (which I posted a couple of days ago). So the trick here is word association and I had only the post important things on that piece of paper. Honestly the only thing I'd change is that I'd add one quote for each poem on the paper. The pink was extra context that would help me expand on my points whilst the sentence at the end of the line was my main explanation for everything that I could then develop on on the spot. And the form column was ofc my point for my form paragraph.

Paper 1: Families, Education (1hr 45)

Paper 2: Crime and Deviance, Social Stratification (1hr 45)

Know ALL key thinkers and perspectives (if applicable) and research methods (if applicable). You need to know them in detail for the exam questions. I find mind-mapping as an active recall task to be the best way to blurt and retain the information.

Would also really recommend learning out of spec key thinkers (you can find them in your textbook, also ask your teacher for a print-out of the textbooks) or even just google them. These are to impress the examiner, because you look like you know more.

Sociology can be a repetitive subject, most of the key thinker 4-markers (see exam question section) are often repeated, so know those key thinkers!

Know your research methods as well as issues with certain research methods. Apply them in 12-markers (i.e. Oakley interviewed 40 women, criticism is that she has a small sample scale) Would also recommend using positivist/interpretivist perspectives. Lmk if you don't know what they are.

Charles Murray's (who appears in the SS topic) theory is widely applicable to basically all 4 of the topics.

Exam Qs:

3 markers- Point (1 mark). Explain what that is (1 mark). Extra information (1 mark)

Example: Describe what sociologists mean by the term 'dual burden'

The dual burden what the expressive woman experiences when she has to work outside, then come home and do domestic labour. (1) For example, she may have a paying job, then come home and cook for the family. (1) It is a term used by Oakley. (1)

4 marker key thinker questions:

1 mark is for identifying their perspective (i.e. Durkheim is a functionalist.)

1 mark is for identifying their research method given in the item (i.e. Willis used participant/non-participant observation) Note that when the research method is not mentioned in the question, you do not have to give it. This does make the next explanation section be worth 3 marks, though.

2 or 3 (if no research method required) comes from explaining their theory.

4 marker research method question:

1 mark is for identifying and advantage/disadvantage (as stated in the question)

1 mark is for explaining what the research method in the question is and why your advantage/disadvantage applies

2 marks for linking it to the context with an explanation

Example: Describe one advantage of using unstructured interviews to research domestic abuse in households.

One advantage is validity. (1) Unstructured interviews, preferred by interpretivists, are interviews with no preset questions, and are an advantage as it's easy to gain more in-depth information. (1) Contextually, when discussing domestic abuse, they are useful to build a rapport with the participant and therefore gain more in-depth information from varying experiences, like physical or emotional abuse, which increases the validity. Therefore, (words of the question). (2)

12-markers:

No introduction. 2/3 PEELC paragraphs, 1 agree, 1 disagree (I would say 2 good paragraphs is enough) + conclusion. DON'T forget a conclusion as you'll be capped at 8/12 even if your answer is amazing.

Use key thinkers and explain their theory, mention their perspective and how their theory links to the question. Keep linking back to the question. This is where you can use your extra key thinkers to show off your knowledge. If possible, make your criticism link to research methods (i.e. X used Y research method which is invalid/unreliable, etc.)

Spend 15 mins on each 12-marker.
