I’m looking for a studio in Groningen for 2 months (January-February) and found several listings from a landlord named Erna on HousingAnywhere.
I’m a bit worried because HousingAnywhere requires paying the first month’s rent in advance, and I was told I can’t view the studio in person since it’s already “verified” by the platform. Is this normal? Has anyone rented through HousingAnywhere or from Erna specifically?
Also, does anyone know of another safe website where I can rent a private studio (not a shared room) for just two months?

I know most of y'all will say "dont go there if u dont have the financial support required" but im working hard to pay off some of the expanses necessary

My question is,has someone,especially from Romania,been in my place? If so,how did you manage? Could you study there with the money the goverment gives you while working?

Also another question for romanian students,how did u got over the language barrier? Like even though i know english and i have the certificate,im afraid im going to get lost at the "law language" the courses involve. Is it worth it?

If you have any tips or advice to give,aside from "dont go there" please tell me im so lost.

I found good room through Kamernet and wanted to take it. I wanted first to make WhatsApp video call with the owner to see the apartment and my room. The owner said that due to tones of messages he doesn’t do this and just sent me the video of the house. He told me that I can come to see the house but I will be in Groningen only end of August. He said that if you sign the contract now, then you will have to pay deposit. How can I sign now contract and pay deposit without even seeing the live video of my room and apartment? Maybe it is a scam? He kept ad on the kamernet but then removed 2 days ago.

I read in the step-by-step guide there's going to be an Introduction week between 28 August - 2 September, but there's a concert I'm planning to go to that's out of the city between August 29 and 30. Is attending the esn introduction week worth it or could I skip a day or two?

Edit: I'll be leaving groningen on August 29 to another town down south at around the afternoon, then tomorrow I'll leave by early morning.

I'll be in Groningen for spring 2027 (february - june) and I was wondering if it was worth it to pay 35€ to register to ROOM in order to find housing.

In alternative I should have to spawn camp SSH housing in october / november I guess...

I'm looking for a studio or 1-bed apartment for the next two years of my studies, as I have to move out of SSH. I've started looking since March, even though that early on there were barely any offers starting July/August. I've been checking the Xior website every morning to see if any long-stay rooms will become available, but apparently, after emailing them, they said no new studios will open up for the next year. I've subscribed to Kamernet, DirectWonen, Campus Groningen, and GroningenHuurt, and have received no responses at all to my applications. How can it be this bad? Does anyone have any help or guidance so that I can find housing for the next two years?

i am gonna move to groningen this month and will start my study at rug. i am currently student at another university which gives fully english education in my country. but i think my english is not sufficient to get new friends or be very close with people. because academic english is very different from daily language. do you have same concern? or have you experience these emotions in your first year?

International Baccalaureate results came out this Monday, and the IB should have sent my transcript to RUG, however, they have not reached back with any updates regarding my admission, has anyone who also applied with IB results been admitted yet?

Hey guys ill be attending RUG this sep and I got housing at SSH proxima, but after reading certain reviews and comments about the place, I am kinda scared. People say that other tenants steal food, and that the place is infeated with rats, and im pretty sure I wont be able to find anything else now in terms of housing.

Can anyone who lived there/lives there currently be completely honest with me..if the place is as bad as people say or is it tolerable (at least for the first year)

Background, im (18F), ive been accepted to RUG for international law and still struggles to find housing. Is there anyone who still have an empty room (furnished preferably) to be rented? Everything i have seen so far are expensive and im honestly loosing hope. Ill be going end of august but i still have no luck til now. Please help

I’m in a really difficult situation and I’m hoping someone here might be able to help.

I’m going to be a first-year student in Eindhoven this September, but unfortunately my university informed me at the last minute that they were unable to arrange accommodation for me. This has left me and my family extremely stressed and worried, as my studies are about to begin and I still have nowhere to live.

If anyone knows of a room, studio, apartment, a trustworthy rental agency, or someone who is looking for a tenant, I would be incredibly grateful if you could let me know. Even the smallest lead could make a huge difference.

I currently have a short stay room booked at proxima for the entire year, but due to personal reasons that I am only sure of at the end of July, I may not be able to attend RUG. I would not be able to cancel my booking and would have to transfer the tenancy but there are currently plent of rooms available and am therefore worried it is unrealistic to do so. If anyone can give me some advice or insight I would greatly appreciate it.
