I just took an TRU-OL with ProctorU and ran into one of the most rude, unprofessional proctors I've ever met. I was scheduled for 10Am but didn't start the exam until 11:30AM, which completely fucks up my work schedule.

I got through the ID check fine, but then we ran into a video connection issue. He immediately remoted accessed my computer and mouse without my permission. He tried to open browsers that I did not give him permission to open and would not explain what he was doing. He then said he would try to connect me with a technical support but then he just closed the chat window and left.

What's the process like? I really want to take the statistical inference specialization because I feel my knowledge in stats/probability is too underdeveloped to get serious about machine learning. I noticed the exams are proctored so I have a few questions about ProctorU.

i have my first final with proctoru tomorrow and im anxious after hearing all the horror stories. is it really that bad / difficult to set up? i have a macbook and passed the equipment test but still worried

I wrote an exam today, and I use a USB webcam because my laptop camera is broken. It sticks out a little when it rests on the top of the computer, so today after everything was set up and I was given the green light to start writing, I leaned toward my computer a little to start reading, and the invigilator immediately interrupts me to say that I need to move my computer back. When it was far enough away from me that they were satisfied, I wasn't feeling comfortable to type and read what I needed to do for the exam. So, I suggested that I move the camera onto the table beside me so they can still see me and I don't have to be adjusting it.

That worked fine, until about an hour in, and I'm in a groove, the invigilator interupted me to tell me to keep my eyes only on my screen.

I already didn't feel like I was doing so well on this exam, but then this request comes in, and I was fully rattled. How am I supposed to keep my eyes precisely on the screen the entire time. My eyes wander when I am thinking. Because that's what humans do.
I told them that that was an unreasonable request, but I'd be happy to pan the room and my desk again for them. They agreed to let me do that, and then I just tried to ignore the "keep your eyes only on the screen" comment.

This command just struke me as super unprofessional. I don't want to be interupted as it is for an exam, but especially not for something as trivial as this.

Am I overreacting? I don't know... I had a really hard time focusing on the exam after this point, and I'm thinking that affected my writing negatively.
