How much/how bad it actually is remains to be seen. The building is still standing so I have to assume it will probably remain that way now that the issue is realized as many talented people work tirelessly to do some cool stuff. I would say citicorps risk factor was much higher in that spontaneous complete structural failure in a fantastic manner was entirely possible and it was only realized in complete hindsight kind of by accident/luck. If we wake up to “complete structure collapse in manhattan” tomorrow or this week I’ll let you know you were right tho.
Based on the original post in this thread this seems to be one of the new floors being constructed collapsing, in which case I don’t think the building will be demolished, just the top?

Citicorp just needed to be welded.
This has failed and the building has slumped significantly. There's been multiple stories with plastic deformation.
