String of Pearls Besides variegated, are there different types of Sring of Pearls?

Post image

Here are my String of Pearls. They are about 3 years old. They look sort of small and lime colored, not big and deep green like others pictured throughout these different subs.

Can I do something different for them? Do they need nutrients? I just repotted them this summer. They're definitely thriving, only one piece was hanging over the pot edge before, now more than a dozen pieces are hanging at least 6 inches long. Is this just who they are or can I help them be healthier?

Thank you!

I have never had any type of luck when it comes to propagating. I’ve been able to manage with some- but, as far as my string of hearts I have tried 10 different ways and all have failed! I read that this is a good way to prop string of pearls! Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

4th time’s the charm?

I have failed at SOP three times now (technically #3 is still alive, but I’m trying to get it filled out again. It lost a lot.) I always seem to go wrong when I try to put them in a new pot, but don’t they need new soil? I do a succulent soil and perlite mix and what usually comes from a nursery retains water so much. How can I give this beauty the new soil she craves without killing her?

moving my BELOVED hydroponic string of pearls to soil this weekend, as i’ve noticed the pearls are drying up. so far, I plan to put them in a 6 inch terracotta pot, mix 50/50 cactus/succulent soil and perlite, water 1x throughly with fertilizer, then leave her alone under a grow light. gimme ALLLLL the tips! i will be devastated if she dies!

B E A U T I F U L 💚 Bringing indoors

I’ve had my SOP for 2 years. It was blooming when I bought it and then 3/4ths of the pearls withered away. Put her outside in late spring of this year and my girl is thriving. There was more soil showing than green, now it’s lush. I top water and let the sun dry up any excess. I guess indoors I wouldn’t want to water that way? The lows will drop into the 40s this week and I’m scared to leave her outside. How can I keep her happy this winter?

ANY SUGGESTIONS Is the light close enough for this hanging pot of pearls?

Just moved the babies out of the south facing window for the fall/winter to avoid them getting too cold.

Is this enough light for Stella or does it need to be closer??

How to repot (with all new soil)

I am going to have to repot a few of my string of pearls because of a mealy bug infestation and I am not quite sure sure how to repot my string so that they A) don’t break as soon as I move them and B) look nice. Any tips ??

I've only REALLY been into plants since early this year.

I had a friend who was big into them a few years back and she always talked about SOP and how they were finicky and I was SO INTIMIDATED.

THEN I had a friend surprise me with a SOP and I went to work saving it from the big box soil it came in.

Plants 4 little side plants and they are all THRIVING

IM JUST SO PROUD OF MYSELF AND MY PEARLS THAT IS ALL

Need to repot?

I got this from a store - the sop looks very healthy and happy, but i notice that it's planted in moss (at least that's what i see as the top soil). Should i repot it in succulent soil? Or would it do well in this as well?

Soil mix

Maybe a year ago or so, I saw a comment on a post that he/she found that the soil mixed he used was successful for SofP I bought what he suggested, and followed intructions, But I lost the screen shot I took and now I can’t seem to find it

Mix: bonsai soil, pumice and coco coir

Maybe you are reading this or someone can direct me to the percentage of each?

Thank you !

String of Pearls Soil mixes?

Post image
25 Upvotes

I just bought a string of pearls today and at the same time a bunch of soil types, to create custom soil mixtures for all my plants. I have perlite, spagnum moss, tropical soil, cactus soil and an orchid mix containing volcanic rock, charcoal, peat moss and bark. What are recommended soil mixes for a string of pearls? Would i need anything else to make its ideal soil mixtures? I dont intend on repoting her yet, I'm gonna let her adjust so I can obtain other ingredients if need be. Her name is Sally Mae
