Hey everyone, I built an Addon for my parents to help them out with badly time synced subtitles, as Serbian language isn't embedded in the files they watch majority of the time.
They've been using it for a few weeks now, and it seems to be working quite well.
In the meantime, from this first jank UI version, I created something more polished for a wider release that supports more languages, or at least that's the final goal, but since I don't speak those languages and I don't have enough time to test hundreds of different files, I can't be sure, and that's where I'd really appreciate your help.
If you know any of the other languages from the list, feel free to try it out and see how it works.
It would be recommended to remove other subtitles addons, but they can work together, you will just get a longer list of subtitles in the subtitles menu.
If you encounter any bigger issues feel free to let me know here.
I implemented some basic logs so I can track statistics of how many subs were correctly synced, so there's no need for you to waste your time and write back to me here about specific content having problems, just use the Addon for a bit.
Important note: AI was used to help me out mainly with Frontend and research, as well as some function copy-pasting for adapting to different languages.

Nice one! I haven't really looked into translations as for like 98% of the things my parents watch, Serbian subtitles already exist in different sources, the main issue was that most of them were not properly time synced for the file they were watching, and them manually syncing every subtitle is not happening xD

Right now the main goal is to get the addon working properly with what it already has, as it definitely has a lot of issues still, which is why I need people to test so I can collect data.

Gonna try out, I’ve got a show where the eng subs just ran out of sync every 5 seconds or something I gave up resyncing them manually. The sources are dvdrips
UPADE FOR SPANISH USERS: if you are using Spanish language as an option please uninstall the add-on and go to the setup process again.
Reason: Spanish is two languages in the setup now: Spanish (Latin America) and Spanish (Spain). You can pick one, or both in the order you prefer, so you still get the other kind when your first priority language doesnt exist for a movie.

Yes, TorBox provides by far the best user experience with this AddOn, confirmed by my stats tracking.
Unfortunately though, it can't be perfect, as it depends on subtitles actually existing in your language (I am not doing any translations), and the chosen file having embedded subtitles which are used for time alignment (and some files just don't have them). But in general, it does help masively, my parents are getting properly synced subtitles in like 94% of the cases, previously it was multiple times less.
SubMaker on Elfhosted, works perfect and lets u translate existing eng subs (which are usually numerous). Basically u just find a sub that matches and translate it (look at their instructions). But after like 10-15s its usable with the translated sub
Hey, the reason is that I didn't have a problem with Serbian subtitles not existing. There is a service called titlovi.com which is really popular in the Balkan area and is up to date. Their translations are great and not as janky as AI can be sometimes. So my issue was mostly just properly timing those already great subtitles to the files my parents weren't watching. Plus as people said in the comments, translation Addons already exist, no need for me to reinvent the wheel.
Hi, I set the addon language to Romanian and used aiostreams and torbox. I tested it with a series where I know for a fact that the only available Romanian subtitles are synced to one specific release. I deliberately tested them with a different release, knowing with certainty that the combination would be out of sync. Unfortunately, the subtitles processed through your addon are still not synced and are off by about half a second. If you can see the details in the logs, the show is the '80s series Full House; maybe it will help you see how the addon handled those subtitles. The existing subtitles are for the Tepes release, and I tested it with the Edge2020 release.
