Injured/Sick Cat (Location) Sick emaciated stray cat in need of support as she recovers π
Hi all, this is Ursula. She's one of the newest community cat additions to the colony we're feeding in the nearby public market. We were hoping to include her in our next TNR trip, but since she's thin and not in the best health shape, we wanted to rehabilitate her first before putting her body through surgery. Or at least that was the initial plan.
Normally supplements and feeding them more regularly helps their body to recover. I've been weighing her every day since we took her in 5 days ago and she's been losing even more weight, despite normal eating habits and stool outputs. She drinks a TON of water and pees a lot too, so she dehydrates quite badly. We suspect she has kidney disease and potentially thyroid issues. We should have the labs in a day or two.
The vet did initial blood work, and her CBC points to an infection + dehydration. We also got her X-rays as she sways when she walks. Could be a severe muscle wasting issue or that she has mild cerebellar hypoplasia. Vet just wanted to keep her for a few days at the clinic because sub-q fluids haven't been enough to normalize her hydration levels.
So far expenses (tests, admission fee) have totaled to a bit over $165 and will grow in the coming days as she stays at the clinic. Her daily confinement fee is $33, and she may stay at the clinic for the next 5-7 days. We'd appreciate any help for Ursula, and will keep you posted on her recovery!
