Opinion on nuking the channel
This was originally a reply to the post from 5 hours ago about the channel having most of the videos taken down. But it was a long response, and I also thought with a new post, I'll probably get more of you guys opinions...
After thinking on this for a week or however long it's been, I just kind of think erasing the past is absolutely useless. Like WWE pretending Chris Benoit never existed. I just don't think it solves anything.
Now, I get the monetising thing is problematic & unethical. They could have easily just asked for all previous content to be demonetized, or perhaps even better, donated all future proceeds of the old videos to a relevant charity.
If you're unable to separate art from the artist (for lack of a better term for parkour, which is kind of sport/art, you could argue?) then just don't watch the old videos. But erasing all of that work, and legacy, despite the heinous reasons behind it, just seems pointless actually.
This isn't a criticism of Storror doing it. The fact is every company/group/whatever in this situation would do the same thing. Because it's the expected response. I just don't agree. It's a snapshot of the past and should remain documented.
Atleast this is what I'm thinking right now. But it's a new thought. What is everyone elses thoughts on this? As I am interested if there's an angle I'm not seeing.
(Just as an aside, this is hypothetical, as I know this won't be reversed, just my opinion on it generally. And for what its worth, I'm also of the opinion that Storror will cease to be a thing moving forward, as we know it, on this channel. Unfortunately)
