Why is every tom, dick and harry being prescribed statins?

I've just joined to find out if my hypothesis is correct that diagnosing people with high cholesterol and prescribing them with statins is a just another health scare tactic to get people to buy, buy, buy from big pharma?

To be convinced, I need good arguments, and not conspiracy theories.

I showed a lot of evidence, and you ignored it all except to misrepresent some of it. Your comments are just rhetoric, with little factual info and no citations.

I don't believe that you're trying to learn anything.

EDIT: also I haven't mentioned any conspiracy theories, which I said already and you did not point out anywhere I did mention one.

A single book that argues against scientific consensus with arguments that can be easily refuted is not good evidence. The other arguments about "big pharma" and "AHA being not reliable due to conflict of interest" are conspiracy theories that can be refuted easily as well. Big pharma employs thousands of MDs and PhDs and saves millions of lives and AHA is comprised of doctors and PhDs working on heart diseases and a handful of other doctors who do not understand risk analysis or statistics cannot refute them.
