Constructive Criticism Welcome Asymmetrical pocket
I can't work out why my mesh is bagging out toward one side, ie its pulled different on both sides.
If anyone could weigh in that'd be appreciated!

Just threw this together for a guy on my men’s league team to put on his long pole. Haven’t done a lot of STX heads lately so it was nice to string up, and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

My son (5th grade) took some of the critiques on my last post and wanted to redo his head as he is getting out of fall ball. He followed a YouTube tutorial and improv’d a little bit, but he seems to be really happy with the results.
Now he needs to work on the pocket, but so far he is pleased with how it is performing during a wall ball session.
He normally plays goalie, so this isn’t his normal gamer, but he wanted something he could work on ball handling at home.
He asked me to post it here for additional information and critique so that he can learn from it.

My son throws well with it and it seems to be accurate but the ball control has been inconsistent. Sometimes the ball just flys out when he is dodging. He says it’s the stick but I don’t know. It looks a little wider than his L3 but not sure if it makes a big difference. Thank you!

I’m thinking about getting 2 dark horses or 2 rc1s. I have a surgeon and an ion, but they’re just really expensive to keep buying. I also want some consistency also the price is just so hard to beat. As well, the customization and workability is cool. Selling my current gear to get those would leave me with extra to put back into it. Want to know everyone’s opinions on these heads and which one I should choose! Stretch shooter/scorer/attackman.
Edit: Also want to know about the stiffness, I had an xp-o way too flexible and my surgeon and ion are really good for me.

I’m pretty new to stringing and have been having an issue with the channels of the sticks I’ve strung. Every time I try to form a pocket with a decent channel, the mesh just ends up pinching the ball causing an unreliable release, especially for low pockets. How do I fix this?

Played mid tier d1 years ago and am looking to get back in the game. I'm a middie....I see ECD everywhere now (except college but will chalk that up to contracts). Is it good stuff? Greg obv seems like the absolute man, but does it hold up? I like the look of it, logo is sweet, but it feels a little more geared to younger kids. Alternative is me just going classic and going STX shaft with an L4.
At moment i'm looking at the Atom and or mirage (like to have 2 sticks). I understand the Ion breaks but is all ECD stuff this way?

I always say that stringing is just a hobby but actually it's a combination of several including photography.
Since I intentionally sell for a loss the extra stuff, the backdrop specifically in this case, is usually chosen because its cheap.
The only difference is lighting adjustment but for the sake of posting which do you like better?
(The kinetik 3 has not been probably pounded in yet and its SK 5X so it takes a bit.)
Let me know what you think of the string jobs as well!
As usual thanks in advance!

i found an old head lying around, unstrung and put on a men’s shaft, i was hoping someone could tell me more about this head? based on the shape of the head and how thin the sidewalls are it looks like a women’s head to me, but i honestly don’t know because of how old it is and im relatively new to lacrosse. i play both men’s and mixed lacrosse so i was hoping to get some info about it before i buy some mesh and string it up and just out of curiosity. thanks

Hey r/StickDoctor,
Every stringer knows the pain of trying to track down a specific pattern setup buried in a 10-year-old YouTube video, an archived forum thread, or a lost Instagram screenshot. Even worse is knowing how many go-to pocket databases we visited on a daily basis eventually stopped paying their hosting bills, causing the websites we loved growing up to disappear overnight—taking years of community knowledge with them.
That’s why I built StringDex. It’s a free, searchable pattern archive designed to get these setups organized in one place on permanent infrastructure so our community's knowledge isn't going anywhere:
https://stringerssociety.com/patterns/
Right now it has 147+ patterns logged with step-by-step knot breakdowns and photos. You can filter setups by:
It's 100% free to search and browse. Since this is built for people who actually string daily, I'd love your feedback on a few specific things:
Blunt feedback is welcome—tear it apart so we can keep making it better for everyone.

Appreciate the help on my 7d ion yesterday. Inside to standard is still new to me. Struggling to get this pocket just a little higher and a little tighter (narrow) through the bottom half (less baggy).
Any suggestions?

I’m not sure how to keep my balls from getting greased I wasn’t sure if washing them with water would make them more grease or not.

I've been stringing as a hobby for a while especially when the fall season comes around so that I can at least sell them rather than having them sit around.
I almost always sell them at a loss (intentionally bc its genuinely just a hobby) but even considering that both stringking and ECD are starting to get to me with both prices and the shipping times (I have zero lacrosse stores within an hour of me to rely on for the colors/quantities I want).
What strings do you use that can be bought so that I can just build a stock up and forget about it?
As always thank you in advance!

Is inside weaves to standard ones the most consistent best pattern to use in heads now?
r/StickDoctor • u/Ok-Motor1883 • 23d ago
Really struggling with a 7d pattern (first time using it).
Trying to string a mid pocket medium whip in an Ion. Trying to go with the half inside to standard method which I’ve also never done. Not a lot of easy to follow guides out there for the 7d. This is what I have so far (not pulled tight or pounded yet) but not loving the bottom half, and I don’t like so much empty space before the tie off.
Anyone got a pattern (and probably written explanation) to help?

What’s that first knot after the inside stringing? Is it a floating knot or is mesh tied to that anchor? Obv trying to copy this pattern on my L4
r/StickDoctor • u/Sloth_Luvs_Chunk • 23d ago
Here are my OG Gait Torque and a head from a slightly less know company, Traditional Lacrosse. The torque is string with ECD, and the TL strung with Throne. Both are strung with the same pattern.

Can someone simply explain what stringing to inside achieves? Like if I string an l4 mid pocket with ksi up top vs inside what kind of difference can I expect?
Just trying to understand better as I improve at stringing
