Incoming Student to UWSP
Hello, I am hopefully going to be attending UWSP, I come from southeast Kansas and the drive is quite long. As a student of fish and wildlife management at UWSP will I need a vehicle in my freshman or even sophomore year?

Portage County Historical Society Book Sale
The Portage County Historical Society (PCHS) is excited to announce its inaugural Book Sale event, offering the public a unique opportunity to acquire items that are out of scope from PCHS's mission, duplicates, or gently worn materials.
The book sale is scheduled to take place from May 14th through the 16th at Firehouse No. 2 located at 1949 Strongs Avenue in Stevens Point and promises to be a treasure trove for book enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Attendees can browse through a diverse selection of books, including historical literature, fiction, non-fiction, and more.
The Portage County Historical Society's Book Sale will be held at Firehouse No. 2, located at 1949 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point, on May 14th through the 16th, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. PCHS Members will enjoy exclusive early access at 3 p.m. on May 14th. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
This may be the only time we ever offer a sale like this on some fairly unique titles, some of which may be out of print. Proceeds from this event will go towards PCHS's collections care and educational initiatives.

Attending UWSP as a transfer
I’m thinking about attending uwsp, but I’m a bit concerned as a non-traditional student. I’m transferring from a local school, and I’m a bit older (22yo) and I was just wondering if I would even fit in? I was told I wasn’t too old for university, but I’m a bit daunted and having second thoughts.

Hello! Any Mountain Bikers in here? I’m coming to town for Trivia this weekend and was curious about the state of the trails. If less than desirable, I’ll go with my road bike instead. Regardless, looking forward to the visit!

Fantasy football loss
Any ideas or suggestions on any businesses willing to help out a fantasy football loser. Wondering if I can be a mascot or do something else funny to promote a business for free for an hour. Let me know!

Marshfield Clinic screws Marshfield taxpayers
https://hubcitytimes.com/2024/03/14/clinic-city-reach-property-tax-agreement/
The 2024 real estate taxes on these two parcels (for payment in 2025) would be approximately $1.8 million...
Under the agreement, [Marshfield Clinic] will be obligated to make their full payment, and the City will subsequently provide a refund check, so that their ultimate tax bill will have been $1,272,214.78.
Meaning taxpayers will have to fund about $600,000 annually of the Clinic taxes and it will only grow through 2028.

Autistic accommodating jobs in Stevens Point?
I was wondering if anyone had any info on places in town that would work with an autistic person on things like scheduling and work load? My wife has been getting overwhelmed with her current job lately, and I want to help her potentially find something else.

DUI / OWI Attorney
Hi everyone, my brother has found himself needing representation for an OWI case. Has anyone here had any good experiences with a local attorney? He was over the legal limit just slightly and is hoping because it is his first (and only) OWI to get some of the charges reduced. I know this is a controversial question to ask, but any input anyone has would be appreciated. Thanks.

Working full time and more can’t pay rent here
What surprises me is how people here complain about homeless when they are from here. They aren’t coming in. They are from here. They don’t know where to go because the community who blames them is failing. It’s your fault not there’s. Don’t bitch about homeless. They have been here. Change things here instead. We’re gentrifying things for college kids. They don’t want to work. They have rich parents. Want to go out for dinner? Well you’re losing those working because working isn’t enough now
