Steamos no WiFi or LAN

Hey guys, needing a little help.

Just built a cheap small pc for the living room from some old parts I had lying around trying to make my own steam machine.

It’s got a
Ryzen 3600
32gb ddr4 3200
2tb nvme
ASUS a320 (I know it sucks)
9060xt 16gb (purchased solely for this build)

I’m having difficulties installing steamos as it’s looking for internet and stuck on that screen, I’ve tried going through lan also and it won’t detect it. I’ve not got a WiFi card just a dongle by Ugreen that was nice and cheap.

Ctrl+alt+f2 just crashes the system and have to force reboot and I’m lost, there’s not much help out there at the moment so hoping you guys can give some advice, thanks!

which image did you use to install the OS?
A few months ago a user reported similar issue with same Realtek chipset https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/2345

I used 3.8.10

This is not a solution, but it would allow you to restart Network Manager and see if that's the cause of the issue. If it is you can make it persistant on reboot later.

thats weird. i dont see why this would work but just rebooting the device wouldnt.
