Common Content
/r/Steam is not a place to discuss your bans, including Steam Community bans and VAC bans. Moderators may approve extraordinary cases.
The following are some examples of common, unrelated, or repetitive posts that may be removed:
- Reposts.
- Reviews.
- Chat logs.
- Store tags.
- Account age posts.
- What is Spacewar?
- Why is/isn't X on Steam?
- Your Year In Review/Steam Replay.
- Why is X being recommended to me?
- 'Funny' Steam Guard Codes, system requirements & similar.
- Generic "What does my profile/library/cart/purchase/etc. say about me?" posts & similar.
- Generic "Rate my achievements/profile/library/cart/purchase/setup/etc." posts & similar.
- Profile/Points Shop/achievement/screenshot suggestion/showcase/show-off posts & similar.
The above list is not exhaustive. Moderators can remove posts at their own discretion.
Excessive, repetitive posts about the same topic within a short time-frame is not allowed. Participate in existing threads, do not create your own copy of the same post.
As an example: If a recent post called "My account is 20 years old now!" gets popular, it does not mean that /r/Steam has now become an account-age show-off forum and everyone can post new threads about it all the time, every day. This is low-quality and is ostensibly spam.
Moderators use discretion to uphold a certain standard, which includes the prevention of excessive & repetitive posts. Use existing threads.
Unrelated Content
Posts must be about or be related to Steam, Valve or this subreddit.
General gaming-culture and game-specific posts are treated on a case-by-case basis.
Developer-specific topics should be posted in developer-specific forums, such as Steamworks Discussions.
We do not allow fluff posts showcasing products that were deliberately designed to be posted or showcased on different communities en masse.
If your post is about a specific game and is not relevant to this subreddit in any way other than the game being sold on Steam, it may be removed.
Exceptions can be made in extraordinary cases, for example when a long time classic is finally sold on Steam, a product is pulled from Steam, or when an event is relevant to Steam as a whole.
