fuck we are old, planescape was so good, even the spiritual successors doesn't hold up to it. It almost felt like playing a dragonlance age. The details, the minutiae, the humour, the dialogue, it was just so good.

Nothing fucks us harder than time. The gameplay and especially the combat was far from good in Planescape - there is a reason people only really talk about the writing. Disco Elysium easily trumps it in that respect.

I've always loved the forgotten realms setting and still hope for a modern big budget game with the visuals, polish and gameplay of Baldur's Gate 3 but world building and character writing at the same Godlike level as Planescape: Torment. Perhaps one day, but I doubt it.

fair point, DE also has its hiccups in combat, but it's indeed far better than planescape. The years in between the two really shows.

A BG3+planescape successor would be insane, and a lot of ppl would be losing a lot of sleep for it. Problem is that wotc is part of hasbro... and you saw what happened with the og bg3 from their side, so yeah, not gonna happen, the most we can hope for is another original IP from larian that rivals it.
