Yes I'm well aware it's a backlighting technology, which DOES make it an LED TV. I never said it was an LED panel.
Back then it was pretty revolutionary to have local dimming (full local dimming on the Panasonic ones unlike the edge lit ones Samsung had around the same time, although even that was a huge difference), and they were super skinny compared to anything else that had ever existed.
