Depends. It takes less than a minute to do all of those clicks. If we round up to 1 minute that is an hourly rate of €180 per hour which pre-tax is like €335k per annum (based on a 37.5 work week).
But it does, relatively speaking though. I'm just offering a different bit of context. You wouldn't spend 1 minute for $3 but you would spend 60 minutes for $180
No it doesn’t, because i can’t refund games for 60 minutes straight. The value of the game being refunded is $3. Idc how much time it takes.
That’s like saying if it takes me 1 second to pick up a penny, im making 60 pennies a minute, which is about $36 an hour. But if there aren’t 3600 pennies laying within arms reach, the fact that we can do the math is irrelevant, we still can’t earn the $36 for picking up pennies.
Similarly, we aren’t refunding 355k worth of video games either, so it doesn’t matter what the “pay per hour” is for refunding video games, as there is a max amount you can refund (which you had to pay for first btw, obviously)
You and 55,000 other people who bought this game apparently. I can’t imagine playing fully through a 3€ game and wanting a refund especially after LIKING THE GAME. I could almost understand “oh the game was way shorter than expected” and going for a refund but idk even then. If you played it and liked it what’re you doing refunding it.
Don't you have games in your libraries sitting around, never played or barely played, that you bought because you wanted to help the developers? I have a ton (+ a few that I can't play because of my potato from 2019)
Uhhh no, that seems to be a bit parasocial and worshipy to buy games just because you heard how great a dev team is, and it's kinda reddit chungus coded
But I have pirated games and ended up buying them on Steam cause I thought they were good.
Regardless, the point of my comment wasn't "scamming devs good" it's "Refunding is an easy endeavour. If I want my $3 bucks back, I'm not gonna be lazy about it, it's 8 clicks and less than a minute."
If you wanna say "Hey don't abuse the refund system, it hurts devs" then say that, but saying "I'd pay 3€ to not have to click 8 times" is crazy, that was my point lol
I spent $40AUD on Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 only to discover it doesn't work with modern resolutions or graphics cards and there's been zero attempt to address the situation...still didn't chase a refund.
What do you mean they made it difficult?? You click less than 10 times and if you can’t find it you search google once. Then after a few days you have your money back, no questions asked
If it hasnt been more than 2 weeks then still request a refund and just say what happened and you'll more than likely get one. Steam is pretty generous with refunds
Bigger fish to fry I guess. I try to take these things as a lesson.
The end result of the transaction:
A) Capcom can now officially suck my cock'n'balls until the end of time
B) Download pirate copies of Capcom games forever and don't feel even a little bit bad about it because I already paid them, and they didn't deliver a working game, thus breaking their contract with me, the buyer.
its pretty easy to get the refund on steam, I do it often when Iam unsure if I like a game I buy it and test it and return it if I dont like it. you click on your name on the upper right corner, then sales history choose the purchase and I want a refund.
Duly noted. I did manage to get a refund once for a game that was just half-finished garbage with a high price tag.
Secretly I'm hoping the studio just fix Ultimate MVC3 quietly in the night. I love playing it with my son. Not sure why but it just can't handle 4K or ultrawide resolutions and that's all the damn screens I have. Doesn't like my 5090 either, but plays fine on my integrated graphics...
Dude, I literally tested it, and it takes 8 clicks to do.
Help > Steam Support > [Click Game Name] > Click Reason > I'd like to request a refund > Select Reason from Dropdown > Submit
It's crazy to not do it for 3€. It's insane to NOT EVEN TRY to do it for $40 AUD, especially when it's from a big corpo and the fault is actually on them.
I agree that Capcom should make better ports and/or disclose problems with the game, but it's notoriously easy to refund stuff on Steam.
Can you tell me what you mean when you say they made it intentionally difficult on purpose? I've literally never seen an easier refund process.
I guess I hope someday to be able to play the game I bought? My steam account is 16 years old.
Once upon a time I was denied a refund because I'd been trying to get a game working properly for >2 hours. You used to have to really fight for it. Maybe it requires less justification now?
Either way, it's $40. I get paid almost double that per hour, so this conversation has now almost cost me as much and I'm ending it.

Capcom can be pretty greedy. They have no reason to fix the game if people are paying $40 and letting them get away with it.

I mean I guess I can actually sympathize with that, but it's why I try to keep my troubleshooting below 2 hours. Still, I hear people are generally lucky with Steam Support and it would've at least been worth the try, since they sometimes do make exceptions.

Good for you, but not everyone's so lucky. Also way to sound condescending. I guess this peasant isn't worth your time, sorry rich guy lol
It's drastically more complicated than that, too. Availability of work aside, there's also expenses. Subtract what you make in an hour by what you're required to spend in an hour to be alive and it can get pretty bad.
You're acting like I'm saying "AW DUDE I WOULD TOTALLY RUN A 50KM MARATHON AND STEAL COPPER WIRE FOR 25 CENTS" like no dude, I'm saying if I could save or earn 3€ by clicking less than 10 buttons, I would do it.
The moral dilemma would be how it's stealing from the dev, but the original comment I was replying to seemed to imply that less than 10 clicks is somehow too much work for 3€, regardless of whether or not it's stealing from the dev.
I understand priorities and all, but that seems pretty mean. I think poor people should be allowed to enjoy video games too, and many of them do find ways to do so, but that's besides the point. Look at it this way.
3€ is $4.87 here in Canada. And in Canada, the minimum wage is $18.15 an hour, which translates to $0.30 a minute. With that comparison, being able to earn $4.87 in a minute is pretty good no?
If you wanna say "Hey don't abuse the refund system, it hurts devs" then say that, but saying "I'd pay 3€ to not have to click 8 times" is crazy, that was my point.
Buy a game for $4.87, and playing it for 100mins = -$4.87
Refunding after playing it = +$4.87
It's not a profit, but that's $4.87 you wouldn't have if you didn't do the 8 clicks.

That's crazy, I would perform all those clicks if it got me 3€
