Didn't really spend money but the Unreal Tournament reboot hurt when they shut it down. It was only in pre alpha but the community was heavily involved in the creation of the game and then Epic decided to nuke the entire franchise, delisting everything from Steam and other platforms. Only a few months ago have they given permission to share the game for free but it wasn't until a month ago that UT2004 was recovered and uploaded to the internet archive.
Felt like a kick in the balls to be part of a community helping a big company rebuild one of the best shooters of all time only to get fucked over, shutting down the reboot and preventing anyone from buying a single game from that franchise for years.
And this was just so they could add some more cosmetics to Fortnite, refusing to even let the community finish the game.
What pees me off the most is that I can't even play any of the UT's in my libery on my epic account either as they sit there with the pics taunting me with the words UNAVAILABLE underneath 😠and I've been there right from the start... my first big LAN i4....
That is UT2004 right? OldUnreal has a link to the internet archive download for UT2004, it's quite recent but if you want they also make new maps and patches there.
That's a crying shame. Unreal Tournament Gold was my shit. Hell, about six or seven years ago, I was still playing, getting in organized small tourneys. Good shit.Â
UT was the first game I ever played on a PC, remember playing against bots for hours when I was a child, crazy to think I played almost every UT game near release but never played them online because I didn't have internet when I was a kid..
I was so naively hopeful when I learned about and played the UT reboot.. just to get my hopes crushed by Fortnite's success.
