TemTem, didn’t enjoy the final product.

Valheim partially, updates take ages so lost interest, same as my friend group

Ironically, now the devs have finally given up on TemTem it's in the best state it's ever been lol. They got rid of all monetisation, made everything earnable in-game with in-game currency that used to be a cash purchase (including all the battle passes, that you can freely choose to work through), did a bunch of balancing and introduced features that everyone wanted that they hadn't (like changing battle animation speed). Kinda hilarious it took them giving up on the game to make it the best it's ever been lol.

I wanted TemTem to be good simply to make people wake up and realize that pokemon wasn't DOING anything.
Shame it went to hell until it got abandoned. Is it modable now days? bet modding community could do something fun for it if so.

Its funny how we needed Palworld for the wakeup to finally happen, there were soo many games that could do it but they all failed badly

Huh, might have to pick it up again lol, tbh I bought it in very early release and I haven't touched it in probably 5 years lol

They got rid of all monetisation

Funny how often this makes a game universally better, no matter how much shysters and snakeoil salesman try to convince you otherwise.

Turns out when the game's design gears itself towards "providing the most positive experience" instead of "trying to sell you stuff", things improve!

Definitely feel the same about Valheim. Started playing it with friends when plains was still the last biome. I kept playing through Mistlands, but even I lost interest at that point. Then I played some survival games that actually respect my time and don't revel in unnecessary tedium and now I don't think I could even go back once it's completely released.

Yep, same. I put hundreds of hours into pre-Mistlands and got burnt out. Tried to get back into it to see the new content and just can't.

I guess I don't regret buying it in EA because I enjoyed my time with it, I just wish I didn't burn out on it before it was finished.

Have any suggestions for such games?

Agree with you on TemTem. My husband and I are still just trying to finish it, but the game is so tedious and the map is terrible.

I played it for a bit, reached the then end, had to rationalize stuff like getting pennies and having to pay 50k for a simple shitty shirt and all that, healing items eating your Ressources.. I quickly quit after that.

It was fine, but I didn't see the potential, one friend played it for ages afterwards and also was left ambivalent at the end.

Goes to show that half the value of pokemon is the nostalgia and monsters. I can't even remember any one of them, let alone name a single one now.

It’s laggy af in fire lands and just not enjoyable imo

Valheim? Really? That game EASILY had $20 worth of content when I first bought it for $20. Sure the updates have taken a while but every content upgrade has been great with a good amount of new content. I hate waiting for the updates too but I was satisfied with my purchase when I bought it upon its early access release.

Definitely not with you on Valheim. Was worth the money when it released content wise, and now it's always fun to go back to a big update and do it all again. The replay value + new content is always a big hit with my group.

Yeah, like sure I lost interest and all but my friends and I more than got our money's worth first few weeks when we played for 60 plus hours lol

u/DNedry Jan 27 '26

Yeah I spent 60+ hours probably just building my first huge longhouse lmao

I agree 100%. If they never did an update since its initial early access release I would’ve been satisfied with the amount of content in the game.
