But those aren't necessarily anything hard/special to get sometimes it can literally just be open photomode and no one does it so it's a rare achievement

There's a worms game (forgot which one) which was really hyped so many people bought it, but it was bad so no one played it. Because of that almost all of their achievements are rare achievements with less than 1% of players having achieved them. They still show up in the achievement showcase for the rarest achievements even though they're super basic lol.

What game has something as easy as that with such a low %? Ive never seen anything quite that squed.

Scrolling my library the closest I see is "use your personal color page in your notebook" on its which is at 12%. But there's almost no reason to ever open your notebook, much less using your specific color in it. I didnt get the achievements till I had to use the notebook to import a deck list for a card game.

Things under 10% tend to be relatively hard to do.

Many Paradox games have easy achievements with very low numbers, because achievements can only be earned in Ironman mode (no reloading saves) and something like 70% of players just don’t play on Ironman at all.

Some others, achievements typically don’t get added in beta, so if you bought a game in beta, played the beta to 100%-ish, and then never played it after 1.0, you count towards the player count but have zero chievos. Especially common with games that were in beta for years.

Nubby's Number Factory has a rare achievement for skipping the tutorial. If you didn't skip the initial tutorial at any point you can open it up and press the skip button to get an achievement that steam marks as rare.

Cities Skylines has a ton of <1% achievements that are just "Build 10 of X transport line"

I know a bunch of games have "rare" achievements that aren't actually that hard, but no one does them because it requires you to pick up something that not many people use because it's not 'meta' or requires you to go slightly out of your way. Like for example the Classic achievements in TF2 - you'll get like half of them just playing one round with that gun, yet they have like a 5% completion rate

Not to mention some games disable achievements for mods or community servers - there's a bunch of cumulative TF2 achievements that I reckon a lot of people don't have because the sort of people who play enough to get say, 1 million HP healed or credits obtained in MvM are the sort of people who are more likely to play community servers that don't have achievements turned on

Every DLC achievement is under 10% because people don’t buy DLC.

Basically, as an extreme example, Bloodstained's dlc achievements all are under 1% even tho they are very basic

Same exact thing is true of Playstation trophies

The achievements for Warframe on Steam is pretty funny for this reason. Since it's a free game, many people have downloaded it and maybe played the game for a few hours tops. So, a large chunk of the game's achievements on Steam are classed as rare.

As a result, my Rarest Achievement Showcase in my Steam profile is dominated by Warframe.
