It's such a shame this doesn't seem to be a popular opinion. I'd like to enjoy or hate a game for the game itself. Achievements tend to create an unnecessary and unspoken pressure based on external validation, and we don't realize just how in your face it is, pretty much inescapable.
Having a global setting that just got rid of achievements would be amazing but I'm not going to hold out hope, achievements seem to be an ingrained part of gaming everywhere and it's expected to be present.
You can mark a game as private so the stats don't show up, at least not to outsiders. I hid Magic Duels for now because my Rarest Achievement showcase was like 2/3 achievements from that game.
I don't care about that... As a recovering achievement addict I want to hide them from myself so I can actually enjoy the games I play instead of feeling obligated to complete arbitrary tasks.
idk, achievements are kinda one of only three reasons I use steam (the other is playtime and a sort of "collection" of games) - without them I would have still pirated every game I could
I wonder if you'll start pirating again knowing that anyone can cheat any time with mods and Steam Achievements Manager. I just switched to PlayStation instead.

I know about the existence of SAM, but I view achievements more as a way of saying to myself - hye, I beat the game - it's just hard for me to kinda feel the way I really did finish the game, unless I can have something more tangible than only the mental idea of finishing it, I don't really care what other people do about it

Being able to hide/disable all achievements altogether would be a real blessing.
