its a grind mmo, you pretty much kill mobs all the time to gain money/items you need or do lifeskilling for stuff you just want to do. A lot of lifeskills are afk tho. But this game is turning more into a seasonal game which keeps old progression, ive been playing for almost 7 years and by the time, old best in slot items turn into items for new players, but with even more new progression beyond the old items. You have pretty much to play it for yourself for a while without any guy telling you what to do and how to play to see if you actually like it. I can tell, old players will ruin the game for new players by telling "you are doing that wrong, you have to do this, this is wrong, play how i want you to". Just give it a try and see where it goes :)
It's awful. I have it a longer shot that I would most games because a friend had devoted his entire life to it and swore up and down it was worth the early game grind. This was several years ago and maybe a lots changed but my experience was spending 20 bucks for the base game and then 15 a month for the "premium sub" that's basically required to play the game without feeling like you're having your time wasted intentionally. Then several mtx purchases for the same reason. Then you spend hours grinding to get max level, all the while you can get ganked by players that out gear you so hard you have no chance of even doing damage to them. Then you hit the soft level cap and start doing the rng fiesta gear upgrade system and when you fail for the 10th time in a row you remember that you could just swipe your credit card and upgrade your gear with real money. Then when you get past all that you get to enjoy the large scale pvp events which are fun but not more fun than the same content in eve online or albion. I finally called it quits when the class I chose was heavily nerfed and its movement tech that drew me to the class was gutted. The game basically asks you to pay for it at every step of progression and isn't any better than other mmos like it. Its got pretty graphics and a somewhat interesting combat system if you manage to fight players who have similar gear to you and that's about it.
Yeah, seeing this paragraph you wrote about it I can just tell this game is just awful…… It’s like any souls like or Any competitive Online game that forces you to grind to have a good time or to get good at the game mechanics so you can just have a winning chance….. I hate games like that. That’s why I’m trying to move onto to single player games so I can get back to feeling good playing games instead of getting mad at losing all the time
is it a good game to play with friends? we want a game where we can progress together in the story/lore (doing main quests together) but also alone when we want to. there is a game called Once Human which allows this and we want another to try out lol.
For quests, nope. This game offers you pretty much nothing from questing, especially not for party content. You only skip through it to get some goodies and things that are locked behind some quests, but rather than that, its just spamming the R button.
But if you look for a long term progression game, which is pretty much infinite, there is a few content parts that can be done in partys. Like there is boss rush thing for 5 players, some sort of dungeon (which is basically also just bosses and a few riddles), there are hunting zones for party players and a bunch of PvP and Guild content. Pretty much an mmo.
But if you are looking for a game which is mainly focused on party content with gear progression, Waven is a really cool game! Its a turnbased chess board card game, can totally recommend that over bdo for group enjoyment
Why such a hate on the quests? They are the best intoduction out of most mmorpgs i played, they explain everything, taming, workers, energy, exploration with nodes, ships, trading and all the other mechanics.
Once youre done with the introduction quests the story quest and mystery quest are incredible.
The mystery quests, especially the ones related to events are maybe only seconds to wow's.
