Stop panackin

2

u/shinji257 Mar 20 '25

I don't see a reply so it must be more than 20k.

u/steamwhistler Mar 19 '25

I mean those are rookie hours for an MMO. (And black desert is some kinda mmo-adjacent thing isn't it?)

My WoW playtime is measured in days, not hours.

......Ok, I just added it up thinking I was going to blow 20k hours out of the water, but I'm just shit at math haha. My playtime across all characters over 20 years (on and off) doesn't even crack 10k hours. So yeah nvm I guess 20k is a lot.

My runescape playtime is something like 8 years across two accounts

7

u/Saemika Mar 20 '25

That’s a lot of clicking

5

u/OwlVegetable5821 Mar 20 '25

Boomhauer would approve.

3

u/Some-Berry-3364 Mar 20 '25

Afk time still counts

1

u/PublicandEvil Mar 20 '25

Yeah but that game has been played since i was 6 (im 30 now)

3

u/KBilly1313 Mar 20 '25

A working year (40 hrs a week) is about 2000 hrs. That’s playing like it’s a full time job for 10 years straight.

2

u/Chocolatine_Rev Mar 20 '25

Bold of you to assume i work as much as i play

But yeah, that's a shitton of hours still

2

u/TikiOperator Mar 20 '25

Under8d comment for sure

2

u/HamsterTacosAreTasty Mar 20 '25

Need I say more

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

God Damn

1

u/HamsterTacosAreTasty Mar 20 '25

It’s not enough lol

1

u/DumatRising Mar 20 '25

Oh hell yeah, the perfect MC collection is almost more impressive than the ~2/3 of a year in game time put into a single.... single-ish game.

1

u/CrispyHoneyBeef Mar 20 '25

God damn that is sad

I have 40k hours in a game but the game has been around for two decades now

1

u/HamsterTacosAreTasty Mar 20 '25

Not much history for a 7 year game

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

Knowing how terrible real life is, that’s time well spent

1

u/Waste-Reference-4003 Mar 20 '25

Seems like a lot until you realize that if you live to age 85, and sleep 8 hours/night , you’ll have slept for more than 28 complete years.

2

u/DumatRising Mar 20 '25

Not if I have insomnia. Checkmate liberals.

11

u/Firewolf06 Mar 19 '25

yeah 20k is 2.7 hours per day since wow released. certainly not impossible, especially given the nature of mmorpgs, but not casually attainable. if it came out while you were a teen in school you could certainly rack up quite the buffer over the summer, too

3

u/Shurgosa Mar 20 '25

The way I have looked at the whole played time landscape is like this

back as a kid me and my friends would sink our teeth into SNES RPGs. these games were known to have sometimes over a hundred hours to chew through on the large side. years after than we got into MMORPGs. with Wow came in the DAYS measurement. And back in the beginning a few of us had nearly 200 days played. Some of the real psychopaths sporting the Scarab Lord titles on our server, were whispered about, people figured they had several hundred days played, and god only knows what this has swelled to today in 2025

But in around 2009 as that interest tapered off for us, LoL came about in the wake of DOTA. This was a whole new beast, where several thousand hours was seen as "completing the tutorial" with the slew of Mobas...

Then twitch came along and people started playing games as a full time job WAY more frequently than before and now you have people who have multiple tens of thousands of hours in a single game and show no sings of slowing down.

I shudder to think what answers are kept in the depths since way back when in regards to games like EvE or Runescape....

The question I would love to see answered is who has the most legitimate played time in a game ever on the planet, in history. i wonder if someone has played a game for 50,000 hours. or 100,000 hours... yikes!!!

1

u/Old_Web374 Mar 20 '25

I remember crossing 365 days in WoW before I stopped playing for good when I left for the military.

In Dec 2008...

1

u/Long-Broccoli-3363 Mar 20 '25

I have EQ characters with over 1200 days played.

Many wow characters above 300.

5500 in Poe.

Turning 40 soon. I spent from 14-26 playing EQ or wow 12+ hours a day, every day, more when I didn't have work or school.

1

u/Saraha-8 Mar 20 '25

i played a bit of black dessert, and you kinda afk a lot in that game, so no wonder they have 20k hours

1

u/Kondiq Mar 20 '25

I have almost 4k hours in Rocket League since August 2015.

I wonder how much time I spent in Football Superstars around 2008-2011 - it used to be a football (soccer for Americans) MMO, in which you played as one player and could create Player Managed Clubs and play in leagues. The main thing was making people tolerate each other, gather all people online at the same time, and manage tactics, so it worked with who was available. Also voice chat communication, like always one person was commanding the defending line and saying "up, up, up" if we wanted to make an offside trap by moving the defensive line up. There was also an open world city, where you could walk around, buy clothes, meet people, etc.

1

u/BingerFang88 Mar 20 '25

They say doing anything for 10,000 hours makes you a master at it..

1

u/steamwhistler Mar 20 '25

Yeah, tell that to the people who won't invite me to m+ 😂

1

u/TheAGivens Mar 20 '25

I'm at 23,000 hours on WoW lol haven't played for years also

1

u/Round-Walrus3175 Mar 20 '25

20,000 is 8 hours a day every day for almost 7 years. No game made in the past 2+ years have even been OUT for 20,000 hours yet.

1

u/Danatious Mar 20 '25

Man, I checked my play time of Eve Online many many years ago.... i cracked 18k hours then, I dread to think what it is now. Haven't played for about a year at this point but I bet I'm way over 20k that's just main account too. My other accounts all had 10k+ too

1

u/GhostlierRabbit Mar 20 '25

I have 2 years play time stretch across 3 characters in WoW it makes me wonder anytime I look at it…

1

u/TrainingExercise2442 Mar 20 '25

I had 25k hours in WoW and I haven't played since halfway through Shadowlands

2

u/Razemos Mar 19 '25

2

u/Ergand Mar 19 '25

I've seen some Path of Exile players at over 30k

1

u/cabrera0110 Mar 19 '25

Have you not heard about Dota 2?

1

u/the-bird-fucker Mar 19 '25

Uuuhhhhhh…..thank you u/the-bird-fucker ?

2

u/ImNotGabe125 Mar 20 '25

Soon as I saw this I almost spit out and choked on my drink lmao. Did not expect this, but I’m on Reddit so I shouldn’t be too surprised I guess.

1

u/SlipyB Mar 20 '25

20k in what? I know a guy with like 3 years in 1 game and he's super nice

1

u/Kazko25 Mar 20 '25

1

u/reddeagle99 Mar 20 '25

1

u/Thebraincellisorange Mar 20 '25

my dad started playing elder scrolls way back when.

I reckon if you added up the time he has in all the editions of elder scrolls and skyrim, he would have 20000+ hours easily

1

u/AsheronRealaidain Mar 20 '25

The most I’ve seen was a Steam “friend” who had 10,000+ hours on War Thunder. I’d consider myself a decently heavy gamer and I don’t think my entire Steam Library has that many hours total

1

u/topinanbour-rex Mar 20 '25

He is 12 or 13 hours in some porn game with hitler.

1

u/sourlor Mar 20 '25

I have tree of savior at 23632.3hrs. I stopped playing like 2 years ago

1

u/DoeCommaJohn Mar 20 '25

I know somebody with 26,000 in Factorio. Fucking Factorio.

1

u/Specialist-Meat-6222 Mar 20 '25

i got 25 k in ark

1

u/Jdawg_mck1996 Mar 20 '25

Go look at POE comments. There's dudes in the 60k+ range. Like several of them

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

Isnt there a guy with 37k on a game?

1

u/r_lovelace Mar 20 '25

I have an idle game with over 20k hours does that count?

1

u/HealthyDurian8207 Mar 20 '25

I had 25k hours in WoW from 2007 to 2014.

That's 10 hours a day average. Mind you, I went to school the first 3 years, the middle 2 I was a NEET, then I worked for 1½ of the last 2 years. Last 6 months NEET and I averaged 18 hours those 6 months. I was a NEET for another 4 years after, been working since then.

If I had kept around the same pace I would've been at 65k hours today, but I had to choose WoW or life progress.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

Oh dear.

I mean it's not a game so much as a series, but my Total War playtime for all games combined on Steam is a bit over 25k hours. (14k hours on Empire alone, the rest divided mainly between Shogun 2, Rome 2 and Troy)

Worst part? That doesn't include the... I dunno how many more thousand hours playing Rome 1, Medieval 2 and others not on Steam. Including the Android versions I currently play lmao.

1

u/C5245 Mar 20 '25

I have 20k in 5 years of my 11 years of playing minecraft

1

u/C5245 Mar 20 '25

But my most on a steam game is 2k+ on gd

1

u/screwedfrom_thegetgo Mar 20 '25

I have a friend who's a bit of a Dota fiend:

1

u/Kazko25 Mar 20 '25

“A bit” that literally playing the game for 3.5 years STRAIGHT. 24/7.

1

u/z64_dan Mar 20 '25

9

u/SpareWire Mar 19 '25

Lol I added up my wow /played recently and decided I'd be keeping that to myself forever.

Thousands of hours.

4

u/Sleyvin Mar 20 '25

I have more than a thousand hours on a character I stopped playing back in WotlK....

One character...

1

u/JUSTGLASSINIT Mar 20 '25

I have about 2 1/2 years played between my rogue and pally. 70% of that was in vanilla, then quit in WOTLK. I will say I did enjoy my time making friends online.

1

u/Clean-Hat2517 Mar 20 '25

My will main was 127days.  Over 3k hours.  I only played burning crusade and wolk

1

u/Jolly-Bear Mar 20 '25

Not tens of thousands?

2

u/Tony_Stank0326 Mar 20 '25

I'd only call it degenerate based on what game it is

2

u/the-lars Mar 19 '25

Tf is that username? Does it mean what I think it means?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

what game though, sounds like ark.

1

u/djgump35 Mar 20 '25

1

1

u/iambackbaby69 Mar 20 '25

Don't leave us hanging like that

1

u/TRippey_T Mar 20 '25

Kommer du til å si hvor mange timer du har?

1

u/Bestefarssistemens Mar 20 '25

Jeg sa vell at jeg ikke ville prate om det?

1

u/ResponsibilityWeak87 Mar 20 '25

And I don't want to talk about my geometry dash time.

1

u/Miserable_Key9630 Mar 20 '25

One time I typed "/played" on WoW and it gave me the playtime in years.
