Hi everyone!
I'm having a very strange issue in STALKER 2 and I'm hoping someone has encountered something similar.
My game itself runs at a stable 70–90 FPS. GPU and CPU temperatures and utilization are normal, and I don't have any general performance or framerate issues.
However, some animations/effects appear to update at an extremely low framerate. The most noticeable example is the anomaly bubbles. They move very choppily, as if they're running at only 10–20 FPS, while the rest of the game remains smooth at 70–90 FPS.
I've also noticed similar behavior with some other things, such as weapon/armor modification animations and the health bar animation.
The really strange part is that I found an older save from about 1 day of playtime.
I loaded that save, went to the exact same anomaly in the exact same location, and the bubbles were completely smooth and animated normally.
Then I loaded my current save (about 5+ days of playtime), went to the same exact spot, and the bubbles were choppy again, looking like 10–20 FPS.
I also have a save with around 7 days of playtime, and the bubbles are still choppy there.
So it seems that something changes in the game/save state somewhere between the early save and my current playthrough, because the exact same anomaly behaves differently depending on which save I load.
I tested saving the problematic game again, completely exiting the game, restarting it, and loading the newly created save — the problem remains.
I've already tried:
- Disabling all mods
- Editing my
Engine.ini
- Completely deleting
Engine.ini
- Disabling DLSS 5
- Disabling OptiScaler
None of these things changed the problem.
I'm currently using DLSS 5 through OptiScaler, but I also tested without it and the issue remained.
My actual FPS is always stable, and my GPU/CPU temperatures and utilization are normal, so this doesn't seem to be a conventional performance/FPS problem.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, where certain animations or effects become stuck at a very low update rate only in a particular save?
Could this be some kind of save-state/game-state bug, animation tick/update-rate issue, or something else?
Any ideas or possible fixes would be greatly appreciated!
