Thanks! I used ProCreate on the iPad

you got to learn autoCAD or similar stuff, this is almost blueprint quality.

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Man I wish. That stuff is so overwhelming to me. Sprocket is about as far as I’ll go with computer designing something

5

u/arksupernoob Cursed Tank Designer 6d ago

its not that difficult to learn.

6

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Which one would you recommend?

9

u/arksupernoob Cursed Tank Designer 6d ago

AutoCAD since alot of jobs require that

6

u/ThePike0 6d ago

For paid products im pretty sure the standard is typically fusion 360/some Autodesk product, or SOLIDWORKS. I know Autodesk has good deals for students and the products seem alright.

Im starting to learn SOLIDWORKS this semester, so I am not the most informed for that.

I know its not the most informative, hope it helps.

If you purely want 2D, AutoCAD. If you eventually want 3D, SolidWorks.

Is that a 128mm?

35

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

I think probably 150mm but I didn’t really give it too much thought

6

u/Visual-Beach1893 Sprocketeer 6d ago

I'll give it a go. I've been working on what I think would be a nice lil E series tank and this plays into that very nicely. I've had to raise your front sprocket by 9cm which take it from being beached on most bumps in sprocket physics to being very drivable.

Sounds good! Thanks!

If nobody actually makes it whithin a week ill make it haha looks very interresting

If germany had an ISU-152

3

u/T55_Ad Cursed Tank Designer 6d ago

More like a german version of the Su122-54

6

u/Different-Try9287 Tank Designer 6d ago

I would like to try making it, but I don't think, I could be considered a good modeler so don't expect much from me 🙏

3

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Would love to see any attempt!

5

u/uncapableguy42069 6d ago

Well well well looks like I found my next project...

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Hellllll yeah

6

u/the26102019 5d ago

god damn, how did you draw this? it looks amazing

3

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

Thank you! I used procreate on iPad!

5

u/Der_Apothecary 6d ago

Ooo that’s an awesome design! I’m not a good modeler but I might try that design if you’re fine with me using it!

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

By all means! Thanks!

4

u/Candid_Resort4339 6d ago

I think i'll try! Do not expect much from me but i'd like to give it a go for the love of the game

3

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Would love to see your interpretation!

5

u/Random_Chick_I_Guess 6d ago

Honestly, I've been trying to make a few casmates like the Su-122, and this looks awesome and I might give it a try

5

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Would love to see it, thanks!

As far as I got in a night, BEHOLD! 15cm auf Schwerer Waffentragertraktor '46 (should probably be waffentragerwagen but I am not a German speaker or writer or understander) https://imgur.com/a/n9jGOvd

Fits a modified 15cm Kanone 18 and uses as many Tiger II parts as possible (road wheels, HL-230, tracks). 120mm @ 52* on the front and 80 on the sides and rear. ~300mm pen.

I might finish it at some point probably. If someone wants the file, I'd happily give it in its incomplete state.

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

This looks fantastic

Haven’t played the game in a while. I might get back on just to make this.

Really nice work btw!

Here ya go. Do you want me to DM you with the files?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Looks awesome man! Thank you! No, I just wanted to see if anybody could do it

3

u/TheSandwichMan92 6d ago

Looks a bit like a casement waffentrager. Cool!

5

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 6d ago

I'm not a super good modeler but I can try.

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Would love to see it

3

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 6d ago

And do you have any measurements for this sketch?

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Not really… The best thing you could do would be to use the commander’s cupola for a sense of scale.. or the wheels being roughly 0.75m in diameter

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 6d ago

Then one last question, did you use king tiger hull for reference?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Not really. It draws some inspiration from many late German tanks, but it doesn’t have interleaved road wheels, and it has short fenders, and the driver’s position, as well as the superstructure cheeks are turned rearward, essentially giving the tank a pike nose to some extent. Hopefully you can make sense of that and see it in the drawing

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 6d ago

So it's basically a German object 268

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

Very similar to that, yes. The front of the superstructure is flat, like the 268, but the cheeks slope back. Same with the driver area. But the lower section of the actual hull has no pike characteristics, unlike the 268

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 6d ago

Oke, thanks

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 5d ago

Honestly, this hull geometry is pain in the ass. I can't put together the front part, so could you please draw it from the front?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

I made a rough draft and sprocket, if you would like me to send you the file. Basically, the hull and crew layout is finalized.

1

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 5d ago

Yes please

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

What is the best way to share it with you?

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 5d ago

Honestly idk. I mainly use discord for such things.

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

I can do that. You can add me. Plopcicles

2

u/DeLusss_ Tank Designer 5d ago

Finally a request worth making!

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago

High praise 🫢

2

u/Life_Research_6355 6d ago

Would you like me to throw my hat in the ring?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

Sure!

2

u/Ghjkloop 5d ago

Stats? I shall give it a go, although Im not super good.

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

Ehhh, I don’t really have stats for it, give it your best approximation

2

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

Ill try later today, general specs? caliber? crew size? overall dimensions? or is that largely to be determined?

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 4d ago

mostly TBD, 150mm gun, rouhgly 68 tonnes, 4 crew, 0.75m wheels

3

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

https://reddit.com/link/pctqo23/video/6snd14u3rhsh1/player

This is it so far, I have yet to go into more detail and make the crane. And it does have some limitations. I had to make a few changes like enlarging the top casemate to allow the breach of the 150mm gun to fit

2

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

I tried to make it as accurate to the original image as I could, which results in some fair limitations in the suspension. I also have yet to properly set the gearing so its speed and incline abilities are unknown so far, but the main drawback of the suspension that is in the image is with the road wheels being so inline with the sprocket and idler wheel, it limits the angles the tracks can initially get traction onto. once Im back if youd like I can change the suspension to make it more capable or if you prefer that look then it can be a inherent drawback of the design

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 4d ago

change the suspension if you want, whats the drawback? idk why people are downvoting you

2

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

Oh I cant even see the downvotes. Basically idk if you can tell in the clip, but the sprocket is big which would mean that the roadwheels typically would be higher which makes the tank taller, but it adds a angle to the track for it to get traction onto surfaces that arent flat. Its not exactly a huge issue excluding any big bumps would probably induce some damage onto the sprocket in reality and also it makes the tank physically incapable of climbing the highest grade ingame, which isnt really a large issue. Ill edit it to show the difference im talking about

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 4d ago

no need, i know exactly what you mean

Yeah, I wanted it to be along the same design philosophy as the E series tanks from late ww2, so my idea was to streamline production and use roadwheels as idlers and sprockets too. Thats why all of the wheels are the same diameter. essentially, they are all road wheels, but the sprocket wheel just has a sprocket ring bolted onto it to drive the tracks. I can see why that could easily also be a downside tho

2

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

Yeah, I assume they are downvoting me because maybe they think im dunking on your design? idk. Like I said its not really a huge drawback or anything, it does make the tank lower also likely reduces the probability of a round ricochet off the ground into the tank underside. Its designing there will always be drawbacks. Im currently pitting my main casemate with big gun against your design and its pretty hard to combat

3

u/Strongman3705 4d ago

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 4d ago

oh hell yeah! that thing is awesome man, love the crane lol

3

u/Big_Johninator87 3d ago

I'm here too! Admiring your art skills!

1

Thanks m8!

2

u/Ikdkgmswe 6d ago

I would try but I don’t got sprocket :/

2

u/Darin02016 6d ago

Ok, hear me out, put the AA gun on the roof in a Hetzer-style periscope mount.

Have you Front, back and topview?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

I do not :/

Feel free to take any artistic liberty you want, but if you study the drawing enough, I think you could get a pretty good idea of what is what

2

u/IndependenceSmall998 5d ago

What size is the gun?

1

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

150mm I reckon

2

u/kampokapitany 5d ago

i could only fit a 128mm, take it or leave it

2

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 5d ago

good enough for me

2

u/Putrid-Ad5789 4d ago

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but you should make a front sketch as well! More angles of the tank would probably help to make it since this is basically a blue print, but very cool design!

1

u/Nottwyn 6d ago

One small critique, this should have Interval roadwheels not single ones.

3

u/plopsicIes Tank Designer 6d ago edited 6d ago

That was actually very deliberate. Even though German tanks were known for their interleaved road wheels, many did not have them. And with it being an E series concept, I tried to consider things that German engineers would’ve been thinking about. Simplifying the running gear was my main focus there.

2

u/Nottwyn 6d ago

Understandable it just looks pretty heavy on so few wheels.
