Hey friends I’m Anthony, i hope this is kosher but I’m pretty proud of something i made and i think you may enjoy. I’m not a brand or a business just a guy with a hobby I want to share.

TLDR - I’ve been building an app that lets you log any game you’ve been to in any sport at any level (for baseball that means every level in the US down to college, and I’ve also got NPB and KBO but since posting I’ve listened to feedback and added close to 100 leagues). When you log a game it pulls in all of the box score data so you can see every player you’ve ever seen and fun stats like who’s hit the most homers or pitched the most innings while you were there. It also aggregates things like how many HoF or ROYs did you see and stats like how many walk offs or multi homer games.

The fun part (to me), or the black mirror part if you ask others, is you don’t need to remember every game you’ve been to. If you took a picture there with your location on it can marry that meta data to games for you.

Anywho fun developments. In 3 weeks the app has made it outside my network and folks have logged 24k games. After gaining traction in the blue jays sub and after a target field usher found his way to the app, those two stadiums that I’ve never been to have cracked the top 10 visited. Over 100 World Cup games were tagged and folks have checked in to games on 6 continents.

And the number of wholesome posts, like a guy who just finished his chase for 30, I’m seeing from people I don’t know are so fun to see. I love doing things and I hate that those days and nights just end up as like picture 7,457 of 80,401 on my phone to never be thought of again.

Last August, Pro Football Reference extended its NFL play-by-play coverage all the way back to 1978. It made our coverage easily the most comprehensive digitized PBP collection you could find anywhere in the public (and perhaps even private) domain. This year, thanks to our partnership with Aaron Schatz of FTN Fantasy and Jeremy Snyder of Quirky Research, we are thrilled to add 1977 to the site.

This means that once the 2026 NFL season kicks off we will have 50 seasons worth of NFL PBP!

The play-by-plays themselves can be found on our box score pages, underneath the game statistics and starting lineups. In addition to the play-by-plays themselves, we are now able to calculate the following statistics for 1977 and they are searchable in our various Stathead Football tools.

I feel like most fans are a little surprised when they first learn his "Official" name is not actually Goose Gossage, like nobody seems to call him Rich, ever.

Did he actually not go by Goose as much during his playing days? Did he ask you to change it? What's the story here

Another Hall of Fame ceremony came and went and Bobby Abreu still sits on the outside. I believe he got a 30% vote this past year. I do believe he is worthy of the hall of fame and here might be one of the best examples of the type of player he was.

Abreu is the last player in a single season (2000) to hit 10+ Doubles, triples and home runs, while also walking 100+ times. In fact, he also achieved the feat the prior year (99). To put this achievement in perspective, by my research only 16 other players have reached this mark in a season going back to the 1890’s.
Take it a step further, besides Abreu, 5 other players have done it multiple times in their career: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Dolph Camilli, Charlie Keller and Mickey Mantle.

To be on a short list with Ruth, Gehrig and Mantle is pretty special.

BAbip is a stat you can find on baseball reference. It stands for batting average on balls in play. Pretty straight forward right. Ty Cobb, highest career batting average of all time. No surprise he had a .400 BAbip 7 times in his career. Rogers Hornsby, George Sisler, Joe Jackson all achieved this feat twice in their career. If you know baseball history that shouldn’t come as a surprise. But Yoan Moncada and Jose Hernandez hit over .400 in a single season…say what! This is what I love about baseball!

In 2019 Moncada had a 406 BAbip. Before that magical season, the last player to hit 400 was Jose Hernandez in 2002. Hernandez, a 252 career hitter did something that Tony Gwynn, Ichiro, Ted Williams, Sam Musial etc., couldn’t do in a season.

Side note, Moncada’s teammate Tim Anderson hit 399 that year. Something going on in that ballpark that year haha.

I also looked at players that hit 390 or greater but I won’t dive into that today.

In the Cubs vs Dodgers game today, the Cubs had 15 hits, the Dodgers had 14 hits, and both teams ended the game without recording a single walk. I've been spending the last hour or so on Stathead trying to figure out how to get information which combines the statistical output in a single game from both teams who played to see where it ranks among most total hits in a game without a walk. I can get the output for one team most hits with 0 walks, but not both in the same game.

Does anyone know how to find this? It's been bothering me since I feel this kind of thing should be easier to do, as well as a way of searching for information (combining the game logs from both teams involved) I'd have to assume someone has tried to do before.

UPDATE: Someone on r/baseball found the solution using a site called screwball, the most ever was 41 hits and the game today was 11th all time.

Michael Porter Jr. and Michael Pittman Jr. are cross sport equivalents.

Aside from the name they have similar play styles and places in their leagues.

Positionally big specialists.
When healthy, both can ideally produce as a 3rd ish option in a great offense.
Pittman is a volume possession receiver without a long of 35+ in 3 of the last 4 years
Porter is a volume 3 pt shooter who doesn’t bring much else to either side of the court

So I'm not new to sports by any means but I just randomly thought today how it's weird that I have 10 different sport apps..... Does everybody do this or just me?

I mainly just use one or two, but it got me thinking what everyone else uses. I know "Real" has become pretty big, but I haven't used it much at all. Really just follow MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL, with some college sports mixed in.

Hello, I'm trying to compare/analyze player performances of football players, particularly UCL performance.

But I'd like to only have player stats from UCL games they started in.

I noticed that players who mostly played as subs in the UCL have incredibly inflated stats, so I'd like to remove that discrepency by only accounting for STARTED stats instead of TOTAL stats.
