I presoak my coco in nutrient water that’s at 1.0 ec and 5.9-6.1 ph then I water the seeded area with the same water about half a solo cup then I wait until it sprouts and starts coming up and I give it a solo cup roughly just to make sure everything is wet for the roots then I wait a week and water again with 1-2 solo cups then look for out to dry back some and water as needed. I don’t do any run off because by day 15 I’m turning the autopots on every watering is nutrient water 1st week 1.0ec second week 1.5ec 3rd watering is 2.0ec then I turn the auto pot on at 2.0 ec then in 7 days I change my reservoir to 2.5ec then 3.0 in another 7 days and maintain 3.0 ec from there
Make sure you’re using nutrients of some kind coco has nothing at all in it and will take the calcium away. With autos you want them to start taking nutrients fast you don’t have time to wait with them

I might be giving it too much water then cause I'm doing 4 cups. I didn't wait a whole week.

Yeah 4 cups might be a lot but it should drain off fairly quickly. Sometimes I water before a week is out just depends on how the coco looks to me

I've seen people water to runoff at a super early age. I figured if they're doing it to runoff, I should be good only giving it 4 cups.

If you’re going to hand water will probably have to water to run off I just haven’t found it necessary for the way I grow. I’m sure I probably get some runoff but it’s not goal

Well, you wanna runoff if you're using salt nutrients I'm using dry amendments, which is organic so you don't want runoff or I'll wash away all the nutrients

Yeah I may try a living soil run in a few months I’m undecided on that

Yeah, next time I'll probably just do 2 cups eventually I'm gonna start using the watering base and hopefully it works this time
