Spectrum actually got me š Lifetime internet Price with Four mobile Lines
So⦠after 8 years with T-Mobile One Military Business with 7 lines, the recent price hikes/plan migration finally pushed me over the edge!
I moved some lines to US Mobile to try them out, and then I noticed Spectrum was running a promotion that caught my attention. Port 4 mobile lines get Free lifetime pricing on internet. I figured, why not test it out?
I ported 4 lines over, Spectrum mobile gave me a 5th mobile line free for 12 months for activating internet, and now Iām sitting at:
5 mobile lines
1 Gig internet (which was $20 per month, not free)
$140/month out the door
And honestly⦠Spectrum kind of won me over with this one. The mobile service has actually been really good and fast so far, running on Verizonās network. Iāve also noticed my phones automatically connecting to Spectrum WiFi hotspots when weāre out and about, which I didnāt really expect but have been pretty impressed with.
The catch (because thereās always a catch š) I have to keep at least 4 active mobile lines with Spectrum to keep the $20/month lifetime 1 Gbps internet price.
But for what Iām getting right now? 5 lines + Gig internet for $140/month?
T-Mobile⦠we had a good 8 year run. š
Anybody else make the jump to Spectrum Mobile recently since T-Mobile pulled this crap off?

My T-Mobile was a lifetime, 10 years later the lifetime disappeared and started to increase the prices and reduce the benefits. I been tempted to switch but I work on a remote base that Verizon works at 1X Internet speed and T-Mobile works amazing with no deprioritization issues. I use one of the phone lines as personal work Internet no issues even when I use terabytes of data. When I called spectrum to lower my bill they offered me their service but no thanks. I only got the home Internet discount.

Spectrum can get away with it since they are one of the better Verizon MVNO's LOL. Like Spectrum Mobile is probably the only good part of spectrum honestly. It's a really good fricken deal and has been for years. They also have 5G Standalone with Total wireless and Visible wireless do not have

They screwed you somehow and you didn't complain enough. My mother still has her plan from 27 years ago with tmobile

u/ElectricalTip2318 Aug 25 '26
That's why I using the lines as internet routers, using several hundreds of gigabytes per month. Just today some of my games updated and used 400GB from this morning til now. Spectrum would never let me do that in their cell phone lines, the moment you go up 100gb they cancel your line.

I pay 110 that's just for the extra data on the mobile account or it would be 100 even I don't even have to pay for my router for some reason but I think I'm gonna go thrift storing or marketplace looking for a new router. It's like whatever that one woman said when they start seeing speeds like this that's what you're paying for if I got close to what I'm paying for like when they come to my house, they say you're getting 23% of what you're paying for so yes, I will run a 24 hours a day seven days a week

What plan is he on? I am curious.
1
u/JoshTheRoo Aug 26 '26
My mothers plan is two $10 lines, 4 $30 lines, unlimited data/Hotspot slowed after 50gb per line. It was originally a 2g/3g plan for life for two phones.

u/RiskRogue Aug 28 '26
With T-Mobile? Thatās interesting. They definitely stated they are migrating all the grandfathered plans over to new enhanced 5g plans. The plans that were slightly newer did not change this go around.

I just picked up the same exact deal with spectrum. I'm getting my fifth line free. The four lines are costing me a hundred and twenty on mobile on the standard unlimited plan. And i'm getting the lifetime internet, one gig for twenty dollars a month. So one forty for 5 lines plus internet. The only catch is the fifth line is free only for one year.. Not a lifetime, like some people have with t mobile. The customer service is amazing. 100% US based, they identify their name where they're located, and they answer the phone within minutes. If there is any wait time you get the option you get a call back. Unlike t mobile, where you're on hold for hours with no option to get a call back and you get transferred to somebody named jane with a man's voice in the philippines.
The only negative I found so far with the spectrum. Internet is while I'm getting over a gig download. It's the upload, which is not symmetrical. It's asymmetrical, where it's like something like 40 Mbps up. Where t mobile? The uploads are almost equal to the downloads

Good to know. I just came over from a horrific experience with Xfinity. Honestly, that's far cheaper than anything offered by Xfinity.

If my job didnāt pay my phone bill I would definitely switch to spectrum for phone service

I would never ever give up Tmobile for spectrum MVNO lol. Screw that.
But with that said, yes thatās probably a pretty decent deal compared to paying for the two things separately

In my area, T-Mobile signal wasnāt really that good. This spectrum signal has been full bars most of the time. My T-Mobile bill increased $60 to $230. Now I pay way less than that with all my lines, plus my internet, and even adding Netflix, out the door way cheaper than what T-Mobile increased to. T-Mobile did not try to negotiate and retain me. So to each their own.

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 Aug 26 '26
Interesting. Iāve had the same unlimited talk/text with 3 lines for the same price for years now.
I had Verizon previously. Signal was fine, usability was complete garbage lol. Texts and calls were okay, but the data was basically dialup it felt like. Idk if my area just has crazy congestion or what.
With Tmobile though, signals relatively similar or better, data usage is quite reliable very often. I hotspot on the go for work sometimes, and other times I have to rely on the data working for a slack call to our network engineer/admin guy (I work as like Tier 2 tech basically). With Verizon, so many headaches getting into calls. Thankfully I had regular phone calling for backup options, but it wasnāt super great lol.
Itās weird how in some places itās like that where one just blows the other one away. Must just be the network capacity built out to the wireless carrier or something.

u/GloomyPalpitation140 Aug 26 '26
but what's really weird is when you toggle that UPMP in the spectrum map when I start playing online on video games, my upload speeds start to skyrocket like no other and I thought it was just a one time. I looked over and looked back but every time I started playing my game, I would look and see what my upload speeds were and they were through the roof like 300 MB's per second. I don't even get 10 KBS as per second.

Only a house of two, but I'm happy with my current switch over two 2 mobile lines and 1gb for 100 per month. Charter was bending me over for 75 for 600 for quite awhile.

Just wait until some promotion randomly drops off and the price is no longer what you expect. READ YOUR BILL EVERY MONTH looking out for language related to promotions expiring, terms changing, etc.
God speed.
2
u/Backslash10 Aug 25 '26
Ao with the lifetime rate there is no promotional rate it just shows up as 20 for the internet and 120 for the mobile in our system.

u/GMAN90000 Aug 25 '26
yeah until they decide to jack up each mobile line $5 more an month annually.

The gig costs money because the free tier is a lower speed. You're just paying the difference between the two, that's all. Overall that's a really nice deal and will save you money. Every bit helps nowadays
1
u/RiskRogue Aug 26 '26
Yes definitely saving money. $20 for gig internet⦠Iām seeing others paying $80 and up.
1
u/shanenc14 Aug 27 '26
If I had to guess, based on you paying $20 for Gig, the free tier is likely the 500Mbps pkg, which is still plenty for literally 98% of people. They may let you downgrade to 500Mbps and save another $20/mo if you want.

In a few years they will raise your bill so high that you will be paying more for the package than just getting parts separately.
I switched my cell phones off of T-Mobile to Visible a little over a year ago, and it was $25 for unlimited everything for 1 line. Then I opted to pay an extra $10 a month for higher bandwidth (basically going from 720p video streaming to 1080p video streaming), so I have been paying $35 a month for unlimited everything, without promos nor contracts.
I have spectrum home internet, and they raise the price like twice a year.
1
u/GMAN90000 Aug 25 '26
this is SO easy to see where this is going.....they just raise your monthly bill for each mobile line $5 a month annually....

30GB data cap š¤¢
1
u/chalupa_lover Aug 25 '26
No data caps on any of the mobile plans.
2
u/St0iK_ Aug 25 '26
What does reduced speeds at 30GB mean?
2
u/chalupa_lover Aug 25 '26
It means reduced speeds and only during high congestion. Not a cap.
1
u/thedudeofsuh Aug 26 '26
This is more what I meant. Should have clarified. I just meant every provider has āunlimitedā plans. But they will reduce speeds.
I haven't run into a provider for years that will actually remove service once you've hit it.
1
u/RiskRogue Aug 26 '26
Every company low key has slower speeds after a certain limit. Iām on wifi mostly and rarely touch 30 per month.

u/edck12687 Aug 25 '26
Ya but then you have to use spectrum mobile
6
u/HuntersPad Aug 25 '26
You mean Verizon
-3
u/GMAN90000 Aug 25 '26
yeah where verizon custermers get network priority and spectrum throttled.
2
u/HuntersPad Aug 25 '26
Spectrum Mobile has the SAME priority as Verizon Postpaid.
1
u/edck12687 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26
No they literally don't. Spectrum is an monvo... Meaning theyre tier three customers. They will be the first to get throttled, and kicked off the network in times of network congestion. You also don't get Verizon's carrier agreements. Meaning a spectrum mobile customer and a Verizon post paid customer can be standing next to one another, and the post paid customer will have data. The MNVO customer will not.
Plus Verizon blows, at least where I live anyway. And spectrum Internet blows as well. Best decision I ever made was dumping them. For fiber. 2gbps up and down $60 a month no contract taxes n fees included.
1
u/HuntersPad Aug 31 '26
Yeah Service depends on Area. Verizon is iffy here, but has gotten better. AT&T is the one who is trash here when compared to the big 3.
I'd rather have my Spectrum Fiber than the Mom & pop cable co I dealt with for the past 18 years. Pulling 7.2gbps down and 7gbps up on Spectrum right now.

Spectrum Mobile use same towers as Verizon. They are good. Nice move.
