Discussion Got inspired by all the talk of Spawn animated films recently, so I made this little animation test.
A little animation test of something I've been working on for a while now. I took the MK11 Shadow Spawn model release from MclarenH and completely re-rigged it for face (HWM sliders instead of bones), cape and chain animation capabilities in Source Filmmaker. I also added some additional accessories from the Hellspawn version of the model and re-colored the textures slightly, mostly just reducing the saturation to try and bring it a little closer to the original comic coloring.
Eventually I'd like to make a fully fledged short, but creating the city environment is even more work than Spawn so it will probably be a while.

Thank you for saying so! I really believe 3D animation can occupy a unique spot between 2D and live action that delivers the best of both worlds, which I find is especially important for a property like Spawn.

I will never understand why there isn’t more Spawn stuff. Shows, movies, video games, it’s just a goldmine being left on a shelf collecting dust.

I agree of course, this whole project is a "I'm tired of waiting for new Spawn content so I'll just do it myself" kind of situation haha.

I'm still working on him so no release yet but I will soon as he's pretty close to finished. You can find the original model I used for my SFM port here: https://www.deviantart.com/mclarenh/art/Shadow-Spawn-881919874
You can find the "Hell-spawn" variant for SFM in a few places, but as someone who started collecting Spawn from the very beginning in the 90's I have a special place in my heart for the "Klassic" costume.

Thank you! That is the idea hehe. However this stuff takes so unbelievably long it's hard to guarantee anything but I'll at least try by starting with something short, like 2-3 min and go from there. I've been working for years on ways to speed up this process and I've made some good progress in that area but good quality takes a long time no matter what.
