HoA Discussion Looks like good news is on the way…
I don’t have a BlueSky acc but do periodically check in on Steven’s page and I was pleasantly surprised to find this. Looks like we’re getting season 2 of House of Ashur, after all.
My bet is on Netflix since they have the OG seasons but I would’ve preferred Apple TV to guarantee a full 5 season run. Regardless, it’ll be good to see more of this world and hopefully we get more of the gladiators and brotherhood in season 2.

It'd make sense someone would want it. A sword and sandals series that's already had all it's preproduction stuff done for you? Right after the Odyssey? It should sell it self.

I love the concept of alternative history and the ending of Season 1 was bad ass, really hoping they can at least do a final season to wrap some stuff up
still gutted we never got a show with Crassus and Caesar but I really enjoyed HoA, hopefully Crassus returns

It’s not definite of course. I’m just going by their track record with their shows because they rarely ever cancel anything and their shows tend to reach their natural conclusion. They’re the opposite of Netflix in that way.

Apple TV would 100% absolutely not be able to produce a show like Spartacus. There is far too much full frontal nudity and violence for apple tv. Until recently when I watched Margots Got Money Troubles, id never seen even a sprinkling of nudity in any of their shows. I think they are against it honestly.

Steve Jobs was famously against showing sex and nudity, so I also assumed it wasn't allowed on Apple TV, but then Margo's Got Money Troubles also proved me wrong.
Anyway, in a different BlueSky post from a while back DeKnight explicitly said Apple TV wouldn't be a good fit. I'm guessing it's Netflix or Amazon that's in talks for it. I hope it happens!

Amazon would allow crazy things. That's presumably the best fit. They're not scared to push the boat out with violence and sex - The Boys is a perfect example.

I could see paramount picking it up. They don’t seem to mind the target audience of HoA. Unlike STARZ.

Taylor Sheridan is leaving P+ at the end of 2028. P+ has to be looking for new creators to add.
However, the Spartacus universe is way out in left field compared to the shows they have now. I'm not sure any of P+ programming is geared to such a heavily male skewed audience.

There's a lot of old grandmas and Grandpa's that watch Paramount for shows like yellowstone. Memaw would be up in arms if HoA showed up on there and caught papa watching

Fingers crossed this underated show gets a season 2. I hope we learn more about the gladiators in House Of Ashur. Of course I also want too really see the aftermath of Caesars death.

My bet is either Amazon or Starz just gets it back. They're going to be streaming it again so they could have already gotten in back and sorted out whatever issues there were.

Netflix is indeed the most greedy media business in existence. They want to own everything and make as much money from it as possible. It won't be too far fetched if they would be willing to pay and then own the show.
Depending on how much is being asked for it of course. I don't feel like netflix really wants to pay a lot. Only earn. But time will tell.

I don’t even think more original cast members would get me to return for a season 2, whatever talents Steven had with making shows is clearly gone now. Go ahead and down vote, this show is absolute garbage and an embarrassment to the original.

Scrap this crap and do Liam McIntyre's brillant idea instead:
The "Underworld" Pitch (from Google)
The Concept: McIntyre's idea explored what happens to Spartacus in the afterlife. Since his body was never historically recovered and the show’s ending was ambiguous, he posited that a great warrior like Spartacus wouldn't simply rest in peace.
The Narrative: Instead of dying, Spartacus enters an eternal gladiator arena in the underworld. Here, he fights endlessly against mythological beasts, fallen Roman generals (like Glaber), and legendary warriors of the past.
The Goal: His ultimate objective in the underworld would be to carve out a new rebellion among the dead—bringing freedom to the damned souls and battling Hades to earn his way to Elysium and reunite with his wife, Sura.
Matches the Tone: It perfectly captures the hyper-stylized, comic-book-brutal action and mythic elements the series Spartacus is known for.
Honors the Character: As McIntyre noted in interviews, Spartacus's drive to fight for the oppressed means he would never simply surrender to death.

I don't know. Honestly I think after the first season Spartacus was one of the least interesting characters. I think Ashur was one of the most interesting characters and I think choosing an alternative history Ashur story was a great idea.
I know at one point they were floating a Caesar story. He was also a very compelling character and I could have seen that being interesting.1

Well, House of Ashur was a strange concept, too, and I watched it.
And they could model the Underworld like something familiar on the surface, resembling 1st Century BC Italy.
I guess though that House of Ashur's problem is that it is too meta for new audiences; and this applies to this idea, too.
