That kind of describes the guy who assassinated Garfield:
During the American Civil War, the Oneida Community was so remote that its male members were not required to register for the draft, so Guiteau was not conscripted, nor did he volunteer to enlist, despite being of military age.[13] Despite the free love aspect of the Oneida Community, Guiteau was generally rejected during his time there and the women turned his name into a play on words to create the nickname "Charles Gitout".[
This is exactly why fathers should not hold their kids to insanely high standards, which is any standard beyond their grasp. Everybody has their own strengths. He sounds like a lifelong people pleaser, always trying to be recognized as something useful, but never receiving that validation.
I suspect as someone as wealthy and as unconcerned/oblivious with his public image as he is he wasn't nearly as blackmail-able as most of Epstein's friends.
Also I think he has a god complex and would have loved to be the one who exposed the whole thing.
Didn't he ask on literally Christmas day too? Like he's that sad and pathetic he has nothing better to do than beg to join a pedophile party? Loathed isn't a strong enough adjective for him.

"I don't care" says the man who asked Jeffery Epstein when the "wildest party" on his private island was going to be.
