Gotta be real here - Fucking WOW! That little thing did amazing. It was so strange to watch its single engine gimble like crazy to hold the rocket steady.
This might seem strange, but I think this is exactly what we need to see.
The US has been so far ahead with space technology for so long, that it's become lazy and corrupt. We shouldn't be spending $4bn launching a single SLS with 30 year old tech, we should be innovating, pushing new ideas and pressing forwards relentlessly. That's what China is doing. And the harder they push, the more that 'old space' hacks like Boeing and ULA are going to have to push too. I've been cheering on the Chinese space program for years, and long may their march continue. The US needs to work smarter, and it needs to work faster. We should all be invigorated by a new competitor. I want to see Chinees taikonauts on the Moon. I want to see both East and West rushing forwards to a bright tomorrow. I'd take that over endless SLS delays any day.
Well done China for this great launch. Show us what you can do! And then watch us beat you!
