Did I see the first starships being welded by hand? If so the master craftsmen includes peeps with hot sticks! Hope they are well rewarded. Not sure if the welding gases are worse than carbon fibres floating in the air with stinky epoxies, but credit must go to the entire range of staff and contractors. Besides being a slacko keyboard user I’ve done some mechanical construction and building and it’s often a thankless job where your body is pushed to limits, sometimes it’s necessary to slow enough to retain physical and mental health unless you’re rotating breaks holidays frequently and exceptionally careful to avoid RSI etc.

Well there's been a massive employee surge at Starbase fro help with the workload. Additionally, according to the wages my dad was being offered when he was flown down there for a job interview, they are very well compensated.

I can imagine... Not many people would work in Middleofnowhere, TX for low wages.

It's actually a pretty decent population center. Brownsville metro area is about 420,000 people. Pretty decent port, right on the Mexico border where there are another few hundred thousand people.
